GRID (Xbox 360)

GRID review (X360)

Reviewed on June 07, 2008

Imagine being able to reverse time and have a second chance at something - a misspoken comment, a rubbish exam, a failed date - wouldn’t that be pretty handy? Codemasters allows your Groundhog Day fantasies to come true in Race Driver: GRID, where you can not only write off beautiful cars by ploughing them into equally beautiful surroundings, but you can do it over and over again.

This isn’t the GTA I “know and love.” It’s a new GTA, one that I know better and love more dearly.

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian review (X360)

Reviewed on May 20, 2008

At first, I stupidly tried to battle everyone. This is a waste of time. Instead, you need to work actively on the current objective, whatever it might be. These can range from destroying siege engines, bashing stone pillars with your club (while riding on back of a lumbering giant) to simply working your way through the maelstrom to safety.

Grand Theft Auto IV review (X360)

Reviewed on May 20, 2008

So, this is it. The much anticipated Grand Theft Auto IV. After years of playing of the original game system built for Grand Theft Auto III, and exploring Liberty City twice, Vice City twice, and the state of San Andreas, GTA is back again, this time with a brand new system on new generation consoles. Grand Theft Auto IV has been in development for quite a long time, and it's finally ready to rock.

Condemned 2: Bloodshot review (X360)

Reviewed on May 12, 2008

His life is a wreck. Drunk, angry and dying for another drink, he crushes some pills with his glass, brushes the remains into his drink and downs the lot. An unfortunate guy gets his face pummeled in by him after accidentally brushing past him. He is Ethan Thomas, former Serial Crime Unit investigator. Several months after the events of the first game, the Serial Crime Unit want Ethan back. Another serial killer is on the lose, and Ethan is the only man for the job.

Rocketmen: Axis of Evil review (X360)

Reviewed on May 07, 2008

If you're mainly a solitary gamer, pass this one up. However, if you have a huge love (or even a passing liking) for loot-gathering dungeon-crawlers, are tired of the genre being taken up solely by medieval fantasy trappings, and have at least one friend or can tolerate random partners, then Rocketmen is actually not a bad buy.

Assassin's Creed (Xbox 360)

Assassin's Creed review (X360)

Reviewed on April 23, 2008

Altaïr’s actions are divided between socially acceptable and socially unacceptable, and you can switch between the two with the right trigger. Unfortunately, Assassin’s Creed is one of those sandbox games where the “cops” (i.e. the guards) want to kill you for every little thing that you do. And since all of Altaïr’s best and most convenient abilities are considered suspicious behavior, expect to attract quite a bit of attention from the local law enforcement. This includes the act of running, which evidently is a sin punishable by death.

SEGA Superstars Tennis review (X360)

Reviewed on April 21, 2008

The idea of everyone's favourite SEGA characters such as Sonic, Ulala, AiAi and Nights in a tennis game is a fantastic idea. Hoping to follow in the footsteps of brilliant tennis series like Mario Tennis and SEGAs own Virtua Tennis, the developers at SUMO have given us Sega Superstars Tennis. Does the game score an ace or does it double fault?

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 review (X360)

Reviewed on April 20, 2008

In 1998, writer Tom Clancy released his novel Rainbow Six, the story of a counter terrorist organization. The organization’s roster was comprised of personnel from several NATO organizations with its home in Hereford, England, alongside the British SAS (Special Air Service). Rainbow was put together in order to respond to terrorist threats around the world quickly and quietly. Teams were made of the very best of the military from around the world. Vegas 2 can only be described as the “crayon” version of Rainbow Six: Vegas.

Eternal Sonata (Xbox 360)

Eternal Sonata review (X360)

Reviewed on April 20, 2008

Eternal Sonata is the latest Japanese RPG from Namco-Bandai. Popular classical composer Frederic François Chopin is ill and is sleeping away what seems to be his end. In what he believes to be a dream, Chopin finds himself in a beautiful new world where he sports a chic top hat. With having a famous composer with the likes of Chopin in a video game, one could only imagine how exciting the plot could be. Does Eternal Sonata take advantage of this and create an adventure like no other?

Condemned 2: Bloodshot (Xbox 360)

Condemned 2: Bloodshot review (X360)

Reviewed on April 17, 2008

To put it bluntly, Ethan Thomas is crap. After the events of the first game, Condemned: Criminal Origins, he left the Serial Crimes Unit, became a drunk, and hangs around the homeless. Some irony, considering he was beating the crap out of them before. Well... some things don't change, because at the start of Condemned 2: Bloodshot, you find yourself using Ethan to fight a group of bums in the back of some alley. With his fists. It appears Ethan has developed the ability to fight with his...

F.E.A.R: First Encounter Assault Recon review (X360)

15 minutes of FEAR is the most fun you can have with an FPS. Put it on the hardest difficulty you can handle and it's easy to forget about Half-Life and Halo after even just a few firefights.

Pac-Man: Championship Edition (Xbox 360)

Pac-Man: Championship Edition review (X360)

Reviewed on April 04, 2008

I could never get into the original Pac-Man. Every single time I tried to play that game, I would just become bored after the first two or three stages. Recently, I downloaded the demo version from Live Arcade, just to see if I still felt the same about it. I couldn't even get past the first stage. Going into Pac-Man: Championship Edition, I thought I was going to experience the same type of feeling. But, as I was a minute or so into playing this title, something shocking was happe...

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter (Xbox 360)

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter review (X360)

Reviewed on April 04, 2008

That's not to discount the game's prominent sense of realism, though. It only takes a single, well-placed bullet to see you off and the wounds you collect in mission do not magically and conveniently vanish. By all means, run head first into that small circle of tents with your gun blazing -- just expect to be dead long before you spot your first target. Both the angles and the numbers are always against you.

Turning Point: Fall of Liberty review (X360)

Reviewed on March 28, 2008

When Turning Point: Fall of Liberty was announced it got a warm response due to its refreshing alternative-future take on the stagnating WWII shooter genre. The game has a rather harrowing alternative indeed - Winston Churchill gets killed by getting run down by a taxi in 1931 in a United States trip, and by the time the Germans knock on Britain's door in WWII the lack of morale and leadership he would have offered led to the demise of Blighty, as well as the rest of Europe, Russia and Africa al...

SEGA Superstars Tennis (Xbox 360)

SEGA Superstars Tennis review (X360)

Reviewed on March 25, 2008

Instead of a traditional career mode taking the single-player centre-court, you’re subjected to a seemingly never-ending flow of repetitive Sega-themed mini-games. Superstar mode is split up into a range of game-themed segments; many of Sega’s more familiar franchises, like Sonic and Super Monkey Ball, are well represented but you’ll also be treated to some of the more obscure and retro from the Sega catalogue. It all sounds great in theory, but rather than the clever and inventive training mini-games seen in Virtua Tennis 3, you’re subjected to the same recycled games with different twists.
