Tokyo Xtreme Racer DRIFT 2 (PlayStation 2)

Tokyo Xtreme Racer DRIFT 2 review (PS2)

Reviewed on May 24, 2007

Numerous customization options also mean that this game is a car fanatics’ wet dream. Those are almost more important than the cars themselves.

Odin Sphere (PlayStation 2)

Odin Sphere review (PS2)

Reviewed on May 22, 2007

Odin Sphere is frustrating like that. The threat of exertion and the constant need to snack on restorative items exist throughout the entire game. Button mashing seldom leads to victory over even the simplest of adversaries. Instead, you must strike and retreat while dipping frequently into your bag of supplies.

Viewtiful Joe 2 review (PS2)

Reviewed on May 16, 2007

I went to college with a girl named Gina Tiranelli. I never really knew her until senior year, but she showed up in a lot of my Psychology c|asses all of the sudden. Through random chance, she and I wound up working together quite a bit. She was, hands down, the hottest woman I'd ever met, and is still in my personal top five. Viewtiful Joe 2 reminds me a lot of Gina Tiranelli.

Hannspree Ten Kate Honda SBK (PlayStation 2)

Hannspree Ten Kate Honda SBK review (PS2)

Reviewed on May 14, 2007

Crashes are great. Bikes will smash off competitors, spin madly in the air and whack other riders into oblivion; with 22 racers eagerly pushing for places, wheel-clipping and faring-rubbing is going to happen. In full credit to SBK ‘07, the great sense of speed the game presents doesn’t slow down one iota should ever single on of these bikes find their way on-screen – quite the achievement for the seven-year-old hardware it’s housed on.

Ys III: Wanderers From Ys review (PS2)

Reviewed on May 04, 2007

As a notoriously chicanerous gamer, I am here to spoil the experience for all of you envious Falcom fans. And let me assure you of one thing: there's not much to be envious about.

Raiden III (PlayStation 2)

Raiden III review (PS2)

Reviewed on May 01, 2007

Imagine my surprise when I took Raiden III home, excitedly put it in my PS2, and found there were no surprises to be had. There is only one ship, and the weapon system is about as barebones as they come.

Resident Evil 4 (PlayStation 2)

Resident Evil 4 review (PS2)

Reviewed on April 20, 2007

In RE4, you are armed to the teeth, but your enemies’ insistence, their thirst for your pain, and their sheer numbers create more compelling and dire circumstances than a few zombies or “nurses” after an unfortunate pipe-bearing player ever could.

Mademan: Confessions of the Family Blood review (PS2)

If you’re looking for a innovative game with blazing action and insane challenge, you could do a lot worse than Made Man…but you could do much better, too.

Rogue Galaxy (PlayStation 2)

Rogue Galaxy review (PS2)

Reviewed on April 09, 2007

Imagine, if you will, the following scenario: A young blond orphan living on a desert planet ruled by galactic war suddenly finds himself confused for an infamous hunter and whisked away on glorious adventures. Now, but for a few key points, many gaming fans find this core idea so irritatingly familiar it near instantly drives them away from this game.

Disney's Meet the Robinsons (PlayStation 2)

Disney's Meet the Robinsons review (PS2)

Reviewed on April 06, 2007

Meet The Robinsons is the type of light-hearted, family-friendly adventure that parents can feel safe about letting their pre-teens play. There is no death, no vulgar humor, no person-on-person violence, and the gameplay is challenging without being frustrating.

Rogue Galaxy (PlayStation 2)

Rogue Galaxy review (PS2)

Reviewed on April 01, 2007

For all its ambitions, Rogue Galaxy neither sustains enough interest nor gathers enough courage to break away from being just a great-looking, great-sounding shell of the epic it wants to be.

Hitman: Blood Money (PlayStation 2)

Hitman: Blood Money review (PS2)

Reviewed on March 30, 2007

Hitman Blood money adds another installment to the Hitman game franchise, for those who are unaware these games place you at the helm as an unnamed spy/espionage agent simply known as “number 47 . His Job is to take contracts (assassination, theft, espionage, and tings of that nature). Having played several of the previous instalments I honestly expected this to be a rehash, or another much of the same cash cow title made to milk us for a quick buck.

Peter Jackson's King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie (PlayStation 2)

Peter Jackson's King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie review (PS2)

Reviewed on March 29, 2007

There are many reasons why one might be interested in playing King Kong. Some might wish to visit the digital retelling of a classic tale of a love that could never exist in our world. Someone else might find solace in an uplifting tale that shows that, in that very same world of humans, a behemoth ape turned out to be the most humane creature of them all.

Yu Yu Hakusho: Dark Tournament (PlayStation 2)

Yu Yu Hakusho: Dark Tournament review (PS2)

Reviewed on March 27, 2007

Most gamers seem to believe that anime based games will be horrid no matter what. Although, every once in a while a game comes along that will defy this belief. Dark Tournament isn’t one of those games. The sad thing is that there are many good Yu Yu Hakusho(from now on referred to as YYH) games in Japan. Yet for some reason only the bad ones were released in America. Oh well, enough of my history lesson. You’re here to read about the game, not listen to me ramble on about the series.

Burnout Dominator review (PS2)

Reviewed on March 26, 2007

It’s time to wrap your sweaty mitts around the wheel, clench your teeth, and thread the needle of traffic as you burn your tires down the center line. Blink and you just might find yourself at the wrong end of a five-car pileup.

College Hoops 2K7 review (PS2)

Reviewed on March 24, 2007

College Hoops 2K7 captures some of the wonderful media moments of NCAA basketball. In a dynasty, every season begins with Midnight Madness and a wild intrasquad practice. Shortly thereafter, facsimiles of talking heads Greg Gumbel and Clark Kellogg host a lengthy preview show, offering canned insight into the Top 25 poll, rundowns of preseason All-Americans, and outlines of high profile coaching changes. After conference tournaments conclude, the pair returns for the big Selection Sund...

Ghost Rider (PlayStation 2)

Ghost Rider review (PS2)

Reviewed on March 23, 2007

Ghost Rider rides a motorcycle, has a skull for a head, wears a leather jacket with spikes, is engulfed in unquenchable hellfire, and makes the corrupt relive their sordid crimes - from their victim’s point of view. That sells itself.

God of War II (PlayStation 2)

God of War II review (PS2)

Reviewed on March 21, 2007

God of War II is not complicated. Multi-faceted plot? Pfft. How about five cutscenes in the whole game? Yeah, that's right. Even though the game is inundated with a stupidly self-conscious epic narrative and an equally pompous musical score, you won't care once you press the start button. From beginning to end, God of War II is Exhibit A for ass-kickery. You know those parts in other games where you're just forcing yourself along so you can get to the next cool part? They don't exist in GoW2. Ev...
