Adventure Island II (NES)

Adventure Island II review (NES)

Reviewed on June 06, 2013

Adventure Island II is the game Adventure Island wanted to be. The first game was only worth playing for the novelty of its unreasonable difficulty, but this one is worth playing because it’s actually good.

Lunar Pool review (NES)

Reviewed on June 01, 2013

There isn't too much more you can really say about Lunar Pool, except that it's a generally fun game. If you like pool-- or perhaps mini-golf-- then it's hard to go wrong with it, especially if you can find it cheap. It welcomes newcomers and pros alike, and for a pool game which dares to reach beyond the normal boundaries, it does its job well.

Rad Racer (NES)

Rad Racer review (NES)

Reviewed on May 26, 2013

Rad Racer isn't the greatest driving or racing game ever made, but it was a quality piece of work and it remains fun to this day. The fact that it represents the work of some of Square's finest team members before they made it big with the Final Fantasy series makes it potentially interesting for fans of that franchise, as well.

Perhaps these two genres just weren't meant to be mashed together and that’s why they wound up feeling as compatible as the typical Hollywood relationship.

Bucky O'Hare review (NES)

Reviewed on May 25, 2013

This is a game that seems to delight in making players scream in frustration, and I have better things to do with my time than engage in such a masochistic pursuit.

Casino Kid review (NES)

Reviewed on May 20, 2013

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to play a poker or blackjack game that feels a lot like a JRPG in the vein of Dragon Quest or Final Fantasy? If so, you're in luck because Sofel provides exactly that in its overlooked NES classic, Casino Kid.

Pooyan is one of those games that only ends when you die, which means, whatever you do, your children will be devoured by wolves. Grim!

Lunar Pool (NES)

Lunar Pool review (NES)

Reviewed on May 16, 2013

As a billiards video game released in 1987, Lunar Pool must have served as a respectable simulation for what it was trying to accomplish. Today however, the game feels more like a puzzle game by bombarding players with rather strange looking tables with portals to pocket balls into. The majority of players may brush off the game as hard or antiquated. Others however, may find a long and challenging puzzle game wrapped around the rules of pool.
