Zunou Senkan Galg review (NES)Reviewed on December 28, 2014Zunou Senkan Galg is the video gaming equivalent of being waterboarded. |
||
Duck Hunt review (NES)Reviewed on November 13, 2014From the moment that you press down on those aging springs and lock that smooth grey cartridge into the fiendishly designed depths of your Nintendo Entertainment System, you’ll surely recognize that you are now Playing With Power. |

Spelunker review (NES)Reviewed on November 02, 2014Oddly endearing or nightmare fuel? Take your pick. |

Little Samson review (NES)Reviewed on January 25, 2014This is a pretty neat mash-up of some Castlevania and Mega Man themes. While not sacrificing one bit of those NES series' difficulty! |

Super Mario Bros. review (NES)Reviewed on January 07, 2014Back when the video game industry was in ruins, a plumber would rise from the rubble and restore it better than before. There are few games in this world that has left an impact on the video game industry and redefined the standards of quality that is expected in video games. Super Mario Bros is the sequel to the popular Mario Bros created by Shigeru Miyamoto in Japan and was released to the U.S. in 1985 for the Nintendo Entertainment System. It is a 2D sidescrolling action platformer that has s... |

Journey to Silius review (NES)Reviewed on December 05, 2013I don't think Kyle Reese had it this rough. Well, he's dead, but I mean... Okay, nevermind. |

Adventure Island review (NES)Reviewed on November 30, 2013Please note that half of this review is going to be nearly identical to my review of Wonder Boy. Why you ask? Because they're the same game. That's right. Hudson Soft obtained the rights from developer Escape, now known as Westone Bit Entertainment, and changed the main character Tom Tom to Master Higgins and changed the graphics, music, and difficulty, resulting in Adventure Island. I bought it for the Wii Virtual Console. |

Kouryuu Densetsu Villgust Gaiden review (NES)Reviewed on November 22, 2013And in case you were wondering, Murobo stepped in and obliterated the final boss’s end phase in about two hits while laughing off any of its attempts to attack him. That only serves to further illustrate the disparity between characters. |

Gargoyle's Quest II review (NES)Reviewed on October 10, 2013Fiendishly fantastic |

Uchuu Keibitai SDF review (NES)Reviewed on September 19, 2013Take out the enemy's space armada and you'll then find yourself in a claustrophobic base. The level is only one screen wide and you'll be maneuvering through narrow, cramped corridors that (of course) have enemies lurking just out of range. The only thing missing was the message, "And now for something completely different…" flashing on the screen between stages — a sentiment which only grows towards the end of the game when you suddenly find yourself outside flying over a desert. |

Super Mario Bros. review (NES)Reviewed on August 10, 2013Mario will linger. |
||
Bonk's Adventure review (NES)Reviewed on August 05, 2013There’s a level in which you bash a giant dinosaur on the head, then climb into its mouth and go spelunking inside its stomach. Bonk’s Adventure knows it’s a fairly straightforward game, so it goes out of its way to be adorable. |
||
Bikkuriman World: Gekitou Sei Senshi review (NES)Reviewed on July 29, 2013It showed me that, yes, RPGs can transcend language. Maybe none can as well as your average puzzle game. But BW has lots more fun trying and getting far closer than expected. |
||
Conquest of the Crystal Palace review (NES)Reviewed on July 25, 2013If you happen across Conquest of the Crystal Palace, you’re likely to get your money’s worth, but that’s mostly only because you’re probably not going to pay much to acquire it. |
||
Metal Gear review (NES)Reviewed on July 15, 2013If you can go into this game with the knowledge that it’s a flawed version of the original game from the outset, it can be an enjoyable and rewarding experience. |
||
Flying Warriors review (NES)Reviewed on July 15, 2013These warriors fly about as well as I do when I put on a cape and jump from the roof. |
