Operation Secret Storm review (NES)Reviewed on September 16, 2011As if dodging throwing stars from several Jackie Chans isn't enough, realizing that about half of your punches aren't landing only boils your blood further. It might be a welcome boil if the payoff were worth the while. Unfortunately, once you remember that Operation Secret Storm is a Color Dreams title, you lose any hope that the payoff is of worth. |

Mega Man review (NES)Reviewed on September 10, 2011I relish fighting off a legion of floating animate flames or blasting shark-faced missiles out of the sky. I still get a giant kick riding the annoying moving platforms in Gutsman's stage. No matter how many f-bombs left my mouth when said platforms dropped me at key points, I still played. |

Rampage review (NES)Reviewed on September 07, 2011It's understood that many arcade games are repetitive, but most of them packed on the challenge and changed up what variables they could to make each level at least feel different. Such tiny changes keep a game from going stale. Rampage does neither, and suffers for it. |

They were great to gain levels against, but when I wanted to conserve healing spells because I was making a run for the final boss, they could wreck my day. |

However, there's something magical about Lolo that retains the freshness even after you've played the living crap out of the first one. It could be that there are so many stimuli to work with that the possibilities for new and more challenging levels are limitless. Instead of attaching new gameplay features, Hal focused on turning up the difficulty and giving you more of the same worries and problems, yet trickier puzzles. |

Castlevania review (NES)Reviewed on June 23, 2011Zombies? Killer bats? Out-of-place panthers? Screw that, it's the candles Simon hated, and yet he eventually grew to love. Only by destroying them could he find random weapons and the sliced-out human hearts needed to give him the strength to throw said weapons. You see, Simon also hates close combat. He likes his space, and doesn't like murderous and nightmarish creatures penetrating his bubble. He'd rather throw a knife than stab a zombie, or toss an axe in an arc than chop down a harpy. |

Wall Street Kid review (NES)Reviewed on May 09, 2011The polished interface makes it easy to keep your attention where it should be: on deadlines. Those deadlines do a remarkably good job of building tension because you know that if you make too many mistakes, you’ll lose everything. Stocks go up in value or drop sharply, so complacency works against you. There’s a certain element of surprise, as well. You might get a hot stock tip and dump everything to invest in a new stock, only to see the next day that the stock you previously owned enjoyed a tremendous increase just after you ditched it. When you’re trying to drive up the value of your portfolio in time to buy a new car (or else face a ‘Game Over’ screen), losses and missed opportunities really hit home. |

Super Mario Bros. 3 review (NES)Reviewed on April 04, 2011The graphics are far more detailed than the original Super Mario Bros. with a much higher color count and larger enemy sprites. There are new enemies you can hop on and ride, giant shoes to ride in (Seriously!), fire snakes, and an angry Sun. Each world has a theme, such as water, giant, ice, and sky with some enemies being unique to each world and some unique to a level. |
