Virtua Fighter 4 (PlayStation 2)

Virtua Fighter 4 review (PS2)

Reviewed on August 22, 2005

An odd thing happened to me today. As I was sitting at my computer, working on this and working on that and wishing I had something better to do on a Friday night, I saw a funny thing lying in my game rack. Sitting right at the bottom, neatly wedged between my copy of Grandia that doesn’t work because I got Vaseline on it and the copy of Wuthering Heights which will never be returned to my 12th grade English teacher because I don’t give enough of a damn, sat Virtua Fighter 4.
Chessmaster (PlayStation 2)

Chessmaster review (PS2)

As a reviewer, I think the highest praise I can get is to hear someone tell me that, because they read my review, they feel compelled to go out and buy the game. There’s just something about having that sort of influence, that ability to impact someone else’s perspective…priceless. Makes me feel like I’m doing something right.

Imagine a universe with no Slippy Toad.
Xenosaga Episode II: Jenseits von Gut und Bose (PlayStation 2)

Xenosaga Episode II: Jenseits von Gut und Bose review (PS2)

Reviewed on July 29, 2005

Dig, if you will, this picture. You’re walking through a desert. Typical desert; full of sand, scorpions, snakes. Sun’s beating down, burning away the few brain cells that the videogames haven’t. You’re hot, you’re sweaty, you’re thirsty, and you’re starting to gag on your own BO. Pleasant experience.
Skies of Arcadia Legends (GameCube)

I should have hated Skies of Arcadia.
Spider-Man 2 (PlayStation 2)

Spider-Man 2 review (PS2)

Superhero games have this weird habit of sucking.
Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening (PlayStation 2)

Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening review (PS2)

Reviewed on June 08, 2005

I wish I had a sword. A nice, big, demon-slaying sword. And guns, two guns, so I could go John Woo all over legions of the demons. I wish there were legions of demons for me to go John Woo on, endless throngs on hell-spawns ripe for the slicing. I wish I hung out with a girl in a schoolgirl outfit who had more weaponry than a third-world country strapped to her waste. I wish, I wish, I wish.
