Koudelka review (PSX)Reviewed on April 24, 2013Occasionally, I am overcome by the urge to try something different. When it comes to video games, “different” is precisely the sort of term that someone might use to describe Koudelka. Another apt label is “interesting,” thanks to the variety of good ideas that the developers implemented. Perhaps the game’s most noteworthy quality, though, is the way that it combines familiar survival horror and RPG elements to create a unique new experience with the potential to be truly special. |

Super Black Bass 3D review (3DS)Reviewed on April 23, 2013Too clusmy to be a sim. Too slow to be arcade. Too ugly to get a second look. |
Ice Climber review (NES)Reviewed on April 22, 2013Very nearly lands on the platform of greatness, but accidentally slips through the edge instead. |

Double Dragon III: The Sacred Stones review (NES)Reviewed on April 21, 2013"THE GREATEST MARTIAL ARTS ADVENTURE SERIES EVER!" - NES Box Cover |

Adventure Island review (NES)Reviewed on April 21, 2013Hudson’s Adventure Island is Super Mario Bros. on steroids. |
Gitaroo-Man review (PS2)Reviewed on April 21, 2013Gitaroo Man is a dream for genre purists, and is destined to live on as a fondly remembered cult classic. |
Excitebike review (NES)Reviewed on April 20, 2013Though it's solidly made, and features some slightly catchy tunes to go along with its somewhat-iconic NES visuals, Excitebike doesn't really offer players a lot of depth. |
Golf review (NES)Reviewed on April 20, 2013Golf for the NES is one of those games that delivers exactly what it promises in the title. |

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner - Soul Hackers review (3DS)Reviewed on April 20, 2013Pitfalls aside, Shin Megami Tensei devotees should find plenty to love about Soul Hackers. |
Aliens: Colonial Marines review (PS3)Reviewed on April 20, 2013A brutal patchwork of exaggerations, underachieving and wasted potential. |
RoboCop review (NES)Reviewed on April 19, 2013Part brawler. Part run 'n gun. All lackluster. |
G.I. Joe: The Atlantis Factor review (NES)Reviewed on April 18, 2013Typically, video game sequels are able to build upon the experiences that their predecessors offered. I tend to enjoy any follow-ups far more than I do the initial installments for that reason, but it was clear to me as I played through G.I. Joe: The Atlantis Factor that something had gone very wrong in the design process. The result is a sequel that is inferior to the original title in nearly every way. |

Cursed Loot review (X360)Reviewed on April 16, 2013Cheat to win! Or, at least, to shamelessly rehash for fame and profit. |
Double Dragon II: The Revenge review (NES)Reviewed on April 16, 2013Could it be? Technos learned from its mistakes? |
Snow Bros. review (NES)Reviewed on April 15, 2013Snowmen are criminally underrepresented as video game protagonists. |
The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct review (X360)Reviewed on April 15, 2013The game spooked me on a couple of occasions and frequently almost has enough atmosphere to make its many shortcomings worth overlooking, but then you come across a walker staring at a wall, getting stuck to an object or running in circles due to pathfinding confusion and all immersion is shattered. |

Gremlins 2: The New Batch review (NES)Reviewed on April 14, 2013No one would blame you if you saw Gremlins 2: The New Batch sitting on a used game store shelf somewhere and quickly looked past it. There have been plenty of awful movie-based video games over the years, and the NES certainly wasn’t immune to this phenomenon. Look closer, though, and you’ll realize that this particular game was developed by Sunsoft, a company that produced some of the best software available for the original Nintendo console. |
Ninja-Kun: Majou no Bouken review (NES)Reviewed on April 13, 2013If you like your ninja games slow and clunky and miserable, this is the game for you. |
Magi Nation review (GBC)Reviewed on April 13, 2013Magi-Nation is a fine example of western RPG developers floundering for success in the RPG genre in the early 21st century |

Dead Moon review (TG16)Reviewed on April 13, 2013In Dead Moon, only during boss fights, your ship turns around and faces left once you reach the screen’s right edge. You’ll feel like you're in an actual arena, struggling to survive a battle with a true rival. The game makes full use of this mechanic, too; bosses will fly all over the screen, forcing you to constantly remain on the move in order to stay alive. |
