Amorous Professor Cherry (PC) review

"As Kouta, the overanalyzing, virginal lead character, you’ve got to choose between these three ‘ladies’ (lucky guy). There are several decisions you have to make along the way that will impact which stream the game takes you on, and which ending you earn. The decisions you make will lead to sex in any case, so you needn’t worry too much if your head isn’t in the game. Random clicking will still enable your seeing not only Kouta banging multiple ladies, but the ladies pleasuring each other. Good times."

It’s unlikely that you stumbled upon this review by chance. You’re here because you’re into graphic hentai adventures, and you want to know if Amorous Professor Cherry is the next big thing.

Well, no, not quite. But it does deliver for the most part, in all the expected areas. The girls on offer are hot, boasting big boobs, unusually voluminous vaginal secretions, and flawless pale skin. Amorous is certainly among the best looking hentai games on the market.

It doesn’t hold back on the hardcore either; you can expect every possible synonym (in the dictionary or otherwise) to be used to describe male and female genitalia, and you can also expect Peter North-esque loads to fill and ooze out of various female orifices – when, of course, the loads aren’t painting tits and faces.

There’s a good – if small – roster of the usual hentai girl archetypes too: the popular ‘it girl,’ Kiyoka, a fellow student; Mamiko, the experienced and knowing professor and sex teacher; and of course, the game's eponymous Professor Chieri (Cherry) Hase, the uncertain, klutzy and lovable primary object of your affection.

As Kouta, the overanalyzing, virginal lead character, you’ve got to choose between these three ‘ladies’ (lucky guy). Good times.

The problem I have with Amorous is in the journey, not the destinations. The translators have laced the game with the usual stock of corn – some of Kouta’s ‘deep’ and utterly uncharacteristic reflections are so atrociously groan-worthy as to kibosh your budding erection. What’s worse, his reflections and pseudo-philosophical pre-coital banter go on for ages.

It’s a shame really, because fans of the genre aren’t solely playing for the sex scenes – the build-up lays the groundwork for the money shots, and some of Amorous’s slow builds do a genuinely good job of whetting your appetite for the glistening skin shows to come. Regrettably, the off-putting bits are so jarring, and the duration of the jabbering so consistently drawn out, that you may find yourself just clicking ‘skip’, rapid-fire style to get to the next scenario where Kouta gets his manhood wet.

Still, even when reduced in this way, Amorous manages to captivate with its lustrous, lusty scenes – some which are actually animated (joy!), and its premise. Sure it’s hackneyed material, but that’s precisely the point – the fact that it’s nothing new that mostly every boy has had a crush on one of his teachers is what makes the premise so compelling.

And so, despite the overcooked and overlong foreplay chatter, Amorous comes recommended. It’s got hot girls, and the especially soft and milky mammaries of impossibly malleable Professor Cherry on its side (I wish my crushes had been this naïve, perverse and agreeable). And with some diligent and timely fast-forwarding, Kouta’s blather won’t leave you with blue balls.

This was a really good hentai review that knows its audience and caters to it without being insulting. I liked that you recognized how some games of this sort can have merit in more ways than just the T&A--which you covered nicely--and that you analyzed those portions in between. Sure, they might not mean anything to half (or more) of the game's potential audience, but there are plenty of people who do care about those things and your text's well-rounded approach worked nicely without dragging on when it shouldn't have. Good going!

Thanks man. There wasn't a tonne to really say, so I entertained myself by trying some little things with the language. Glad it's finally up though.

Damn you Venter! This lured me back into clicking those buttons.

Which buttons? O_o

georox posted September 03, 2008:

The button keys on my keyboard that say "n" "o" "o" "b" into the FireFox URL area, then the one that says "enter". Somehow that brings up this site. :O

Also, Venter, AIM, ASAP. Importantish.

Sorry, Geo, but AIM isn't working for me right now... which is odd. I get timeout errors or a note that my username/password are incorrect (though they've been fine for 5 years up to this point, so whatever). If you have anything important to say, say it through HG Mail, though I have to go to work in a few minutes so probably won't see it until much later.

Also, I didn't write the Amorous Professor Cherry review, just to be clear. Masters did. And, as noted, he did a dang fine job!

Oh, haha, Venter you have quite the rep for writing these hentai reviews -- he thought I was you!

Alright, sent you a site-mail then. Lemme know.

Edit - Also HG, I knew you didn't write it, but it IS your site I saw it on, after all.

Great work, Masters! Hentai reviews need to make a comeback on HG. What happened over the past few years?

Venter stopped being a horny bastard, and I presume the minions followed suit... UNTIL NOW ONE BROKE IT! OHNOES! Return of the Living H-Games!...unless someone here is into necrophilia...

I think hentai reviews only dwindled due to the lack of freebies from j-list after Venter ended their advertising agreement due to outrage against those delicious ads.

EDIT - btw j-list has some pretty awesome shit like DVDs of guys getting handjobs in the shower!

Haha, HG staff are minions. Nice.

What? I consider Minions a fair term... It could be worse! Mmm... J-List... I need to get me some more Revoltechs.
