Final Fantasy Tactics. This game and I have a very long history. It was bought for me as a birthday present and the first day I got it, I dug in. Within the first day at about the fourth level I was stuck. That's right the inevitable ''stuck''. I was there for a very long time, probably about a year or so, I was ready to give up. Finally one day I picked it up and by some video game miracle I made it pass that level. I was again caught up in the story line, urging myself forward through battles of all kind. Then once again I was stuck, at one of the hardest places in the game. I eventually beat my way pass that and made it to the end of the game. Basically my point is, this is one of the most challenging RPG's I have every played. I think that's one of the reasons I like it so much.

You are Ramza Beoulve, the youngest son of the great Balbanes Beoulve. You follow Ramza and his many friends through the world of Ivalice on their quest for justice. The plot twists and turns unexpectedly with a score of surprises. With Ramza and his friends you discover the true story behind the Zodiac Braves and the powerful Zodiac Stones.

The cast of characters is huge in this game; it can get slightly confusing at times, especially if you stop playing it for long periods of time. There are many secret characters to gather and hidden quests that you can perform as well. I have to admit though, they did leave a lot of loose ends with many of the characters. Although, Ramza is well written and multifaceted in many ways.

The graphics on this game are beautiful. The battlefields are detailed from the simple plains to the book-filled underground library. The few FMV's that the game contains are pretty with bright colors, and have distinct feel for them. Each job class has a different uniform, detailed in its own way. The pointy black mage hat, the horn of the summoner and the jacket of the bard. All in all the graphics are awesome.

The job system itself was another challenge to figure out. It always had me on my toes thinking of different combinations to use between different jobs. The list of jobs you can change your characters to is very long. Each class has its own skills that you can learn and equip. The combinations of skills are endless.

The controls on the game were slightly confusing at first, with the whole job system to learn. But one you get used to them, they become a second nature. The only gripe I have is that Square felt the need to tell you when your enemies leveled up, as well as how many experience and job points they were getting. After awhile it got annoying watching your enemies dance around whenever they leveled up.

When all is said and done, Final Fantasy Tactics is an amazing game. It is difficult, unlike many of the newer RPG's. Absorbing plot line that never seems to slow down. And the job system is just a cherry on the cake.
