Before picking up some games, you know that it's going to be bad. I thought that Bob the Builder: Fix It Fun was going to be a boring children's game that entertained kids in a way that older folks won't understand. But instead, I was smacked across the face with something so vile that insulted the minds of children and left a scar in my brain.

Although this game is very much playable, it's not something that you would enjoy doing. You must help Bob do ten tasks(in any order you want, might I add) so he can go to his picnic. Most of the tasks require collecting eight different things in a mix of very similar levels. It sounds easy, and it really is. In the game's default difficulty(easy), all you have to do to beat most levels is run from one edge of the level to the end. Everything you need to find is smack in the middle of the path. There's no activity at all during the level. Nothing to jump over, no secret places, nothing. Just running. Tell me, who can't make a character run in a game? Well, at least Bob runs at a decent speed. On harder difficulties, you're timed in completing these easy tasks and once in a while, you might have to climb a ladder to get what you want or jump over a moving green blob that can damage you. That's about as close to action as you can get.

The mediocrity doesn't just end at how easy the game is. The level designs are extremely poor. While you're running from left to right, you'll notice that the houses you run by repeats itself over and over. You'll see identical trees and houses throughout the level. It's too bad though, the graphics aren't that bad. It's a little too brightly colored, but one would expect that in a game about and a child's educational TV program. The levels lack a bit of detail and it wouldn't be horrible if it wasn't repeated over and over again.

The level design isn't the only thing that's repeated to death. The tasks of collecting eight things, keys that lead nowhere, and running right to accomplish everything in the game are also duplicated often. And the music. Oh god, the music. The music is easily the worst thing about this game. The five second tune that repeats itself like a broken record for the entire time that you play the game. It's even worse than Peter Pan & the Pirates. All five songs or so sound the same with its high-pitched, happy beat that lasts only a few seconds. It's like having a wedgie throughout the entire day.

This game does almost nothing right. The only redeeming point is that it's playable and the graphics have vibrant colors. The repetition will be too much for many gamers playing this game, myself included. The number of times that you see the same house in the level and collect eight things that can be found simply on the ground is mind-numbing. I must also stress how awful the music is. I literally couldn't stand more than a few minutes of it. From the big things like horrifying music to the little things such as Bob tilting his head as he walks, this game is simply not worth anyone's time. Even a kid wouldn't want to do the same thing over and over again, especially something not fun like this game. And with that, it fails to deliver for its purpose: fun. I know this game is aimed towards children and they can be entertained more easily, but they certainly deserve more than this.
