Remember back when Square was a no-name company struggling to survive. This was before Final Fantasy. This was when they made ok games that not many people knew about. This was actually a good game. It surprises me that knowone remembers it.

Graphics: 10/10
The graphics in this were excellent. Everything looked really great. And it was amazing how Square was able to make it look 3d. I didn't think that was possible on the NES till I saw this game. I'm still not sure how they managed to do it.

Sound/Music: 6/10
The sound on this is pretty good. It has a variety of beeps. The music sounds ok at first but it gets annoying after a little while. It would've been nice if they had had a wider variety, but it was an NES game, whattya going to do? Obviously Nobuo Uematsu wasn't there, or if he was, hadn't learned how to do music really well yet.

Control: 7/10
The control on this is relatively good. You move around in the 3d world with the analog pad, and jump with the a button and fire with the b. You mostly use the jump button, and rarely ever use the fire button unless you get a special item for it. The only problem with the control is you can't come to a complete halt or go backwards so if you miss something it's gone forever unless you die.

Gameplay: 7/10
The gameplay is somewhat annoying, but for the most part its fun. You run around in a 3d world dodging fire-cactuses and weird little critters. There are a number of items you can get such as one to make you invulnerable for a hit. Another will allow you to fire a fireball without reaching a boss. One will make him invincible for 5 seconds, and the final one kills you. Because of your constant jumping over small ledges, I have a theory it was original called World Jumper 3d.

Replay Value: 6/10
I can't really think of much of a reason to play it after you beat it. The ending is pretty disappointing, and its pretty hard. If you are able to beat it, you might want to play the first couple of levels again, but I don't think anyone would want to play through the whole thing again. This is a fun game, and is especially good considering it was one of Square's first games.

Pros:
The best graphics on the NES
fun gameplay

Cons:
Very hard
Disappointing ending

To Buy or Not To Buy: Buy it!

Arkanoid is the remake of the classic break-out. It's pretty much the same thing only with enhanced graphics.

Konami made another sports game. Whattya know, it was good! It appears Konami made more quality titles on the NES than any other system. This was one of the first hockey games. It was the first to have fist fighting, and what a nice add-on it was. I enjoyed beating the crap out of other players who happened to b...
