The story begins with you as a tactitian found in the plains by a woman by the name of Lyn. She asks you who you are and just as soon as you respond there is an attack by bandits. Your profession is a tactitian and you help her in a battle, this is only a prelude to the story of the game.
In the course of the game you meet many new characters and you will continue doing so forming an army. By fighitng your characters can level up and your troops will get stronger in a certain area. The game's design makes it very easy to understand the basics, the first 12 chapters of the game teaches all you need to know about playing the game.
The good stuff about this is the fact that it makes you think a lot. The lives of the soldiers depend on your tactics, if they die they're gone forever and only restarting the chapter is going to bring them back alive. You see in Fire Emblem you only get 42 characters and this is your army for the whole game, it's not like in Advance Wars were you have infinite soldiers. Your tactics get them stronger and keep them alive.
Now the game's length is one of my personal favorites. You have three diffrent story modes, Lyn's Story whihc has a total of 12 chapters, Eliwood's Story which has a total 27 Chapters and Hector's Story which has 29 chapters. You can play them in hard mode which doubles the chapters, so that's over 100 Chapters to play. The story is all conected and offers some surprises, but don't expect a great storyline, some parts are a bit corny and some of the characters are a specific stereotype.
But aside from all of that Fire Emblem is defintely woth the money, it's a lot better than FE8, Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones. The length of the game is great, the explanation of the game is great, the gameplay itself is great. The only thing holding it back from being perfect are: -The sometimes corny storyline, stereotype characters and the graphics, they're good but not perfect, the animations for the characters don't vary and you can't really diffrenciate the enemies much, I give this a 8.7 which rounds to a 9.
