Dino Crisis (PlayStation) review

"Dino Crisis dives straight first into the mechanics of Resident Evil one and two. It like playing those games, but with the undead replaced by sneering dinosaurs. Capcom have definitely stretched the elements of ‘’Panic Horror’’ in the game, giving the audience the same thrills, but adding some new creative dimensions. Like for instance, the character can walk while shooting, these small snippets make the game more accessible. The controls though, are pretty much the same. "

Dino Crisis dives straight first into the mechanics of Resident Evil one and two.

Dino Crisis is scary, it makes you jump, and it makes you want to cover your eyes. It plays like a resident evil game; the movement is reminiscent of one and two, the camera angles add to the frightening underpinnings of the game, sometimes you don’t know where you are going, a dinosaur could walk out of nowhere, you have to keep yourself vigilante.

The storyline of Dino Crisis is deep filled with blood and gore. You play as Regina, a sexy agent, who is thrown into the midst of the crisis; she parachutes in, with a mind full of dread. She isn’t alone, she is aided with agents with similar skills to her, but the hard shell of help is soon shattered, when you start to fight alone. The fable is intriguing and original; Capcom certainly pushed themselves and their brewing minds.

Dino Crisis takes place on Ibis Island; you are on a mission to track down the devious Dr Kirk. A scientific mastermind who supposedly died, but new findings suggest that he’s still alive. Your mission is to take down his enterprise, to eradicate his prophases. Some feel, that he, is designing these dinosaurs in his state of the art lab. Also your other objective is to get off the island alive, simple eh?

The game play in Dino Crisis replicates the Resident Evil franchise. The mechanisms are pretty much the same. They aren’t many guns or dinosaur species in the game; T Rex only really makes cameo appearances. This can leave the gamer downhearted. After you see the dinosaurs over and over again it can be mundane. Storing items is much the same as in Resident Evil too.

The graphics in the game are put together with awesome precision, it has some of the best graphics I have seen in a nineties title. The game is less cluttered; it’s a well-textured experience.

Dino Crisis is a game that few would dislike. If you love Resident Evil, then you will love this. It has a sheer brilliance about it. It will hit the sweet spot in the gaming capsule in your brain; you will gain unprecedented pleasure from the title. As Regina your destiny is to survive, the gamer’s destiny is to enjoy what Dino Crisis has to offer.

When playing fear, you expect to be frightened by its concept and content, but the 3rd experience doesn’t contain many scares, which is baffling. I am not saying that the game is mundane and tarnished it has a profound storyline, and blood does spray like a hosepipe. By giving it a chance you are waking up the judgemen...

When playing through the enthralling epic called Alan Wake your gaming senses will be rubbed with a marinade of complete and utter astonishment. The game will take you on a journey, a dark, ghostly crusade, where light is your best friend. The darkness overthrows you; it enables haunting figures to follow your innocent...

I do like this review. You got the main points of the concept out in the open, and detailed the scary aspects of the game as well. My only minor issue is that you mention that it's like Resident Evil at least three times, which got a little repetitive in the (as you already stated) short review. Also, because I'm honestly curious, and you are already going to be adding to it, how is the gunplay? Are the guns fun to shoot? Any different, out-of-the-ordinary ones?

Thank you for liking my review. And i am glad i hit the nail on the picture when it came to concept and detail. I will be adding to it, i feel there is more space for more points. And i am sorry it became a little repetitive, never good when that happens.

Loved this game when I was a kid, it was the coolest thing.

Anyways,I'd also say you made the Resident Evil comparison a few too many times (notice your second paragraph, for example). And what if the reader is unfamiliar with the first Resident Evil games? Then this piece may not be descriptive enough, and I know you're very capable of making good descriptions.

Just stuff to think about, keep'em coming.

Wow, Alk! I was shocked to get to the end of the review and realize you'd written this! It's a totally matured style and it really works! This is easily your best review and my favorite so far. I was drawn in by the snippet you choose for your tagline and then kept reading straight through.

I didn't mind the Resident Evil comparisons as much as everyone else, I actually like them because they immediately painted a picture of the game in my mind. I would suggest augmenting them with a one or two paragraph example of a situation straight from the game. In that description, you should cover one scene of the game and how the game controlled during it. Was it a scary scene? Tell us why! Did it control like Resident Evil with a fixed camera angle and having to aim at enemies off screen? Tell us that! And speaking of aiming, was it better to run past enemies or to shoot at them? Tell us!

Good to see someone making so much progress so quickly.
