Drugs
October 12, 2009

I was talking with a bunch of people today, and we all came to the agreement that videogames are more addictive than any drug. I think part of the reason this is true is that videogames are not directly physically harmful. The only problem with this reasoning is that I think there are drugs that this can be said about as well.

I also personally came to the conclusion that alcohol is one of the shittiest drugs in existence. Hangovers suck, it tastes extremely shitty over 90% of the time, and you don't even remember of half of the night the next day.

You have to be selective about the alcohol you drink, as well as the amount. Then it becomes more enjoyable.

For example, one night I drank four Long Island Ice Teas (top shelf; the company was paying). I was fine. But then, another night, I drank three sips of beer and felt really sick.

So I'm careful now -- no more beer, only hard liquor for me. You should be careful, too.

If alcohol is erasing your memory, you are clearly drinking too much of it at a sitting.

Most of last school year I used to just drink straight liquor because I wanted to get drunk quickly while consuming low volume. It worked for a while, until near the end of the year when I had this really bad, two-day hangover. As a drinker I was never quite the same after that. I've since switched to beer and mixed drinks. It's more volume, but it's much more palatable and ultimately easier on the stomach.

I'm very much into college-style binge-drinking, but I have a feeling my drinking habits will decrease sharply after I graduate, if not cease entirely.

Been drinking for the last 9 years and never really had the urge to stop. Of course, it's all recreational, meaning when I go out with my mates or watch some sport event(usually football). I think I threw up once from alcohol(tequilla) when I was 18 or something. Never before, never after. Hangovers are also a rarity for me, I don't know. My stomach knows when I had too much and just shuts down, can't drink another drop or I know I'll suffer tomorrow. I think my worst side effect from alcohol was that I fancied myself a Bruce Lee clone when under the influence. Ahhh, the folly of youth.

At 25 my recuperation is a bit longer then it was when I was at 18, but still, I drink because I enjoy drinking when with friends, and that's really the main reason why one should do it, for enjoyment, not some outside factor.

I'm English and, as such, was bottle fed with whisky and haven't stopped drinking since. It's done me no harm. No lasting harm, anyway.

Besides, all the best stories start with "So, I got really wasted one night, and then...."

"...I woke up with that hooker I don't remember bringing home..."

Yeah, I do come across as the clean-cut type.
