Living in the Mojave Desert region of California, I love it when it rains, but dear God, I HATE thunderstorms!
It's not likely that thunderstorms arrive in my neck of the woods -- and even rarer when such storms linger overnight. This is actually only the second time I've ever witnessed such a storm lingering overnight; the first was about 2-3 years ago in September.
The present thunderstorm has been in the area since about 1:00a PDT, and the lightning is still flashing, the thunder is still rolling, and my nerves are shaking. I'm finding it hard to get some good sleep, which sucks because I have an important college class I have to attend in the afternoon.
I hate thunderstorms.

fleinn - October 19, 2010 (08:29 AM) ..for some reason, a good rain-shower and a thunderstorm makes me relax. It's Beaufort 10 fairly often where I live, and eventually things that aren't tied down just disappear, basically. I don't know. It's refreshing in some way, I think. Even if the danger is real when it's going on. But if you spend some time at sea, or near the sea during a storm like that, you kind of learn to respect it instead of just fearing it, I think.. |

qxz - October 21, 2010 (08:02 PM) Well, this recent thunderstorm was, by far, the wildest I can recall. Usually, thunderstorms in the Lancaster/Palmdale area (north of L.A.) last only about an hour or two. However, this one lasted for nearly two days! |

zippdementia - October 21, 2010 (08:11 PM) See, on the forums, this first post looks like this... It's October and "I reject your reality and substitute my own." |

zippdementia - October 21, 2010 (08:45 PM) You know... it is. I'm going to use that. |

qxz - October 21, 2010 (09:45 PM) It really shouldn't be "It's October and I reject your reality and subsitute my own". Seriously! What happened was this: , I accidentally tapped my return key before I actually added the main content. |

aschultz - October 22, 2010 (12:25 AM) I live relatively close to a busy street in a city, so thunderstorms mean less traffic, and they drown out whatever traffic there is. Still, especially in a desert--ouch. |

JoeTheDestroyer - October 22, 2010 (12:39 AM) It's October, and I'm a horror nut, and I haven't watched nearly enough horror movies this month. Just raved about them on Facebook instead... |
