Title: Big News

I have been absent around here for nearly two weeks to prepare for an upcoming job prospect. My bachelor's degree is in Film Studies, but with the way things are going, I don't think I'll be getting much use out of it anytime soon. I have been sending out 2-3 resumes per week for everything from Production Assistant positions, to video editing positions, and even the equivalent of administrative assistants. I wish I could convince someone to give me a chance, as I know they would not be disappointed, but no one will due to my lack of long-term professional experience. I simply don't have the time, patience, or funds available for more education or to purchase my own video equipment. For that matter, I don't know how much longer I can work at Best Buy for poverty-level wages and remain sane. It's time for the fallback plan.

When I first applied to colleges, I made a deal with myself; if I were accepted into Milwaukee I would go for Film, and if accepted into Oshkosh I would go for Criminal Justice. I know the two choices couldn't be much further apart, but they were the only interests I had at the time. Film hasn't worked out so far, so I am going for Criminal Justice. I applied for the upcoming police officer examinations in San Francisco and I head out in two weeks for the first of three tests. I live in Wisconsin and each test is a month apart, so I really hope this works out. Otherwise, I will have wasted well over a grand in travel expenses.

At present I work full-time, and then write, play games, and bike in my spare time. This way I can still do the things I love while having a career that actually pays the bills and gives me a sense of pride.

I'm afraid when I get out of school I will have trouble finding a job also. Good luck though.

Yeah good luck. The whole lack of experience thing can be a nightmare.

Yeah good luck. It makes me glad that my major forces me to get experience before I can even graduate.
