Sexy Parodius (Saturn) cover art sample
Reader review by pickhut (September 04, 2011)

Going into this installment for the first time, with experience of the previous three titles to aide me, Sexy Parodius still managed to surprise.

Jikkyou Oshaberi Parodius (Saturn) cover art sample
Reader review by pickhut (August 28, 2011)

I feel like I'm telling a joke if I even mention those three bosses: a singing panda, a school girl with bunny ears, and a living spaceship with a giant bra walk into a bar.

Parodius (Saturn) cover art sample
Reader review by pickhut (August 21, 2011)

After the "thing" (Gradius III) was released in arcades, the main line of Gradius games went into hibernation for most of the 1990s; it was only at the tail end of the decade where two, big titles were released, Gradius Gaiden and Gradius IV. That still left a huge chunk of the 90s untouched, meaning gamers had to go elsewhere to get their Gradius fix with similar titles. The Parodius series answered the call, filling the void with a total of four shoot-em-up titles...

Salamander Deluxe Pack Plus (Saturn) cover art sample
Reader review by pickhut (August 14, 2011)

1986's Salamander, the first title in the 1997 release of Salamander Deluxe Pack Plus, acts as an ungrounded version of Gradius, which came out a year prior. Whereas Gradius required a near-methodical mindset, thanks to its checkpoint system, Salamander is more high-octane and in your face, adjusting the gameplay accordingly.

Gradius Deluxe Pack (Saturn) cover art sample
Reader review by pickhut (July 18, 2011)

If there's one thing I can take away from Gradius Deluxe Pack, it's that there's a right way and a wrong way to make a challenging game.

Wing Arms (Saturn) cover art sample

When I play an aerial combat game, I expect a whole lot of Pew! action. You know, here a Pew! There a Pew! Everywhere a Pew! Pew! We all do.

Courier Crisis (Saturn) cover art sample
Reader review by pickhut (June 26, 2011)

Bluberry, The Legendary Reviewer, responsible for penning masterpiece reviews for such games as Ninety-Nine Nights, once joked that some development team should make a game about bicycle couriers. Imagine the shock when I told him a game like that has been in existence for well over a decade.

Assault Suit Leynos 2 (Saturn) cover art sample
Reader review by pickhut (April 03, 2011)

Assault Suit Leynos 2 is still a good purchase for your Sega Saturn, but don't try paying an arm and a leg for a copy expecting some sort of heavenly masterpiece.

Astal (Saturn) cover art sample
Reader review by pickhut (March 16, 2011)

Astal is such a disturbingly simplistic side-scroller that, it's hard to believe it was developed by Sega, known for their quality side-scrollers.

Sega Touring Car Championship (Saturn) cover art sample
Reader review by pickhut (January 30, 2011)

The Saturn has been home to many a racing title, mostly created by Sega's own departments. They all tend to vary in quality, but regardless, each of those titles are memorable for something. Daytona USA, the big one, is a flawed port, but still enjoyable thanks to fun play mechanics, good track design, cool bonuses, and a great, cheesy soundtrack. Sega Rally Championship is known as a solid port, despite suffering from being too much of a straight one. Manx TT has sheep. You get the point. So wh...

Haunted Casino (Saturn) cover art sample
Staff review by Sho (October 27, 2010)

A typical match with one of the seven available dealers is divided into three separate rounds wherein she starts out in corsets and colorful gowns before being reduced to filmy, silken underthings that leave nothing to the imagination until they too are cast aside to reveal naught but cold, creamy flesh for the final battle. These garments are handed over to the very approving imp in exchange for heaving stacks of chips nearly as abundant as those newly revealed pleasure globes until at last your bankrupt beauty goes down with a hilariously inept video of the poor lass being sucked into a black hole, presumably in search of some pants.

Virtua Fighter CG Portrait Series Vol. 3: Akira Yuki (Saturn) cover art sample
Staff review by Gary Hartley (September 06, 2010)

Virtua Fighter CG Portrait Series Vol. 3 is a tale about one warrior versus mother nature. A non-interactive, grainy tale that’s over in five minutes. Pity poor Akira’s plight, but don’t line the pockets of those who wish to profit from it with shoddy Saturn imports!
