News article by Rhody Tobin (November 10, 2011) You may remember earlier this year, when Nintendo legend and Zelda creator Shigeru Miyamoto expressed interest in a 3D remake of Link to the Past, saying "Do you remember Xevious? It's two-layered and I really wanted to create that at the time. So to see Link To The Past in two layers would be quite attractive for me." |

Reader review by JoeTheDestroyer (September 25, 2011) There are many facets of this time traveling quest that make it one of Square's finest masterpieces, from lovable characters to an amazing soundtrack, but no one particular piece takes the center stage and begs for your attention above any other. Chrono Trigger is in a state of old school RPG equilibrium; it's balanced just right. |

Staff review by Rob Hamilton (September 23, 2011) And I do mean "tricky" — I found myself stumped for a good number of minutes in one boss level before figuring out I had to swallow a Koopa at the top left of one gigantic chamber, go to the bottom right of the room and spit it at a near-inaccessible power-up cloud in order to release a staircase leading to the door out of that place. Things can be a bit more cerebral than in past Mario games. |

Staff review by Rob Hamilton (September 16, 2011) Perhaps the poor NoA censors just couldn't comprehend what they were playing, shrugged their shoulders and let it all go through without chopping out minor details like how the villain is a demon using a Christianity-like religion as a front to absorb peoples' souls to increase its power. Or how, in spectacular fashion, the final boss utilizes the game's "anyone can die" mantra to such effect that I still look at the entirety of that confrontation as one of the most epic in J-RPG history. |

Reader review by JoeTheDestroyer (August 27, 2011) ActRaiser blends hack-n-slash platforming with downscaled simulation to create a unique game. The stellar soundtrack and mad sick enemy design, particularly the parts that borrow from mythology, reinforce the gameplay to create an epic feel. |

Reader review by JoeTheDestroyer (May 12, 2011) After pulverizing me for a minute straight, he applied his dreaded finishing move: he humped the air next to my unconscious character. So vigorously did he hump that air that the color drained from my body. Even as my gray husk laid there, Executioner continued to make the empty space next to me his bitch. |

Staff review by Sho (November 03, 2010) Even on a system renowned for its expansive library of RPGs, successfully completing The 7th Saga is an unforgettable experience. Unfortunately this is solely due to its patently unfair difficulty, because the generic dungeons, incomprehensible abbreviations, and skeletal excuse for a plot would likely put everyone to sleep if all the random encounters weren't straight out of their darkest nightmares. |

Staff review by Sho (October 29, 2010) For Kazuya, a perfectly ordinary Japanese youth, it had been a perfectly ordinary beginning to a perfectly ordinary day: having roused himself from slightly sticky dreams of men that are hung (from crucifixes) and sapphire-haired devil ladies proclaiming their eternal love, our hero spends his morning downloading the hottest apps off the local BBS (look it up) before heading out on an adventuresome quest for fresh milk. Then his mom gets eviscerated by a demon from the rather similarly torn bowels of the underworld, he accidentally transmogrifies the faithful family hound into Cerberus, and the world ends. It's at around that point that the day really starts to go downhill. |

Reader review by zippdementia (July 25, 2010) There are darker skinned people in Freejia, but they exist only to populate the Diamond Mines or be sold to even worse fates in the dark corners of the world. After a trip to these human markets, the cherry blossoms and the content demeanor of most of the town’s residents seem a sick joke. The heaviest feeling of despair comes not from seeing those who suffer but from witnessing the ignorance of those who don’t. |

Staff review by Rob Hamilton (July 08, 2010) After mere moments of playing through the first level of the first (of three) episodes, I was wondering if my killing machine of a space marine had been replaced by Stephen Hawking. You will move really slowly and choppily through levels AND the controls aren't responsive. There's a brief delay between you using the control pad and your character actually moving, which isn't a very desirable thing in an action game. |
