Over Top
After realizing how long Record of Agarest War might be, I decided to take a short hiatus to play and review another game. Over Top was a game I wanted to do for some time now, and I figured it would be an easy one to write for. Turns out it wasn't. After completing my original finished version of the review, I was dissatisfied with the end product after playing a bit more of the game. I ended up throwing out everything in the middle of the review and rewrote those sections. Though, after completing the second finished version, I still wasn't happy with it, and threw out everything in the middle again, rewrote, and modified other parts. The one you see now is the third final version.
This was probably the most difficult review I've written in recent months...

zippdementia - May 10, 2010 (09:53 PM) Agarest War does seem long. It's also somewhat obtuse, as I can't figure out half of what I'm doing with items and smithing. But then, I haven't played much yet. Badman 2 is occupying more of my time than it has any right to. If I lose my day job, it will be because of that fucking game. |

dementedhut - May 11, 2010 (01:43 PM) I'm about 15 or so hours in, and I've yet to find any great use with smithing, even though most of the items I get from defeated foes is mainly for smithing. Oddly, too, an ability to go to Monster shops became available around nine hours in, even though I can't even capture monsters yet. Hopefully, they'll play bigger roles later on. They better. Edit: I did a tiny bit of searching, and apparently, you need to have the Capture skill equiped to one character in order to capture monsters. The monsters also have to have extremely low heatlh for it to work. I've read that to help you with this, you'll need Merciful Strike, which does damage to an enemy without killing them. |
