wolfqueen001 - April 08, 2010 (05:49 PM) Haha. Nice. The interesting thing is, that site was saying that the PAL version of the game is 17% slower than the NTS and people still complained about the difficulty curve. I guess that says something about how hard Devil May Cry is. Other things of note: The site also said Devil May Cry was supposed to complement Resident Evil, only that it's in the hack-and-slash genre. (I actually had a bit of trouble understanding that line, but that's sort of what it sounded like to me.) Either way, I don't think I ever really considered Devil May Cry in the same way. I mean, it doesn't seem as "scary", or at least, didn't seem to be going for that kind of atmosphere like Resident Evil did, despite the fact that it's basically about demons. Also, how many times do you fight that spider thing? The site said it's introduced in mission 3, but sounded like you fight it several times later and that these successive encounters, while very exciting, are also extremely frustrating. Anyway, I enjoyed the video, haha. That did look very frustrating indeed. |

dementedhut - April 08, 2010 (06:10 PM) I haven't played DMC for about a year and a half now, so I don't exactly remember, but I think it appears at least 4 or 5 times. It depends, because there's one instance where it appears as a punishment fight if you don't avoid something in another boss fight. Also, I almost babelfished that section, but I pretty much guessed what the article was about, so I didn't want to waste time. But thanks for translating it! |

wolfqueen001 - April 08, 2010 (08:29 PM) Haha. Well, babelfishing it would've been a waste regardless because that's a terrible translator. =p Would've been good for lulz, though, I suppose. |

zippdementia - April 08, 2010 (10:13 PM) Are you guys talking about Phantom (AKA big spider thing)? Because you also fight it in DMC2, though it's way easier. As is everything in DMC2. Also, to understand Capcom's statement, you have to understand Capcom's logic. They never really understood what they were doing with Resident Evil or what made it scary. It just sort've... worked. Eventually they ended up making the new Resident Evils a lot more like Devil May Cry, in terms of direction. |
