can you choose any level like in the Xbox port, or do you have to play right through?

I "finished" Metal Slug 3 on the PS2 only by virtue of unlimited continues and being able to pick up where I was killed every time. I stopped counting how many lives I'd lost somewhere halfway stage 2. The only consolation was that I played this through at a party, with different people picking up the second controller throughout, and none of them did a shred better than I.

I'd like to play this with you all, but my Xbox Live Arcade account just expired and I can't afford to renew it right now... or buy the game. So maybe in a few months, we can meet online and play some co-op.

I already answered blu's question much earlier, but I'll mention it anyway for the millions reading this blog. No mission select, just have to play all the way through.
