Welcome to my blog. Here, you may read all of my reviews. That will take a good deal of time, as I have penned quite a large number of them. I advise you to start now. And don't forget, constantly offer me praise concerning how great I am at doing what I do!
Title: Multitasking: Just one thing I'm too stupid to handle Posted: April 01, 2010 (01:20 PM)
So, last night, I had my plan set. I have two TVs in my living room, so if I want to watch something while gaming, I can.
I wanted to watch the UFC stuff on Spike and I wanted to play Project Snowblind. What happened was that I got through most of one level in Snowblind over the 3+ hours I was watching TV. I couldn't focus on both things at once, so I was essentially watching TV and playing a game during commercial and interview segments between fights.
And it's like that in reverse, too. If I just have a random game on TV that I don't really care about, I'll catch myself looking up and being like, "Whoa! How'd it get from 12-5 to 41-38 that quickly?"
In short, I'm just not good at multi-tasking. Woe is me.

Well playing a video game require a lot more attention since for most you have to be actively engaged in the game. I know sometimes I'll try to watch a show while playing a DS game, but usually that amounts to me playing while listening to the TV and occasionally stopping to look up. Even then I'm usually only doing this while building levels in an RPG so I have something to distract me from the monotony.

If you need to do something else to amuse yourself while playing a game, I think that highlights a problem with the game.

It's not that I'm doing something else to amuse myself while playing the game...it's more along the lines of there being something on TV that I want to see BUT I also have this game I want to play, so I try to accomplish both at once. And since I dig sports, I oftentimes will have a sporting event on if I'm at home.
