Final Fantasy XI class action lawsuit dismissed
You may remember way back in 2009, when lawyer Esther Leong filed a class action lawsuit accusing Square Enix of "deceptive advertising, unfair business practices, and fraudulent concealment with respect to the online games at the point of purchase," specifically referring to Final Fantasy XI and their "concealing" of "monthly fees, penalties for late payments, interest, restrictions and other things that should have been fully disclosed at points of purchase." The lawsuit sought five million dollars for "unfair business practices, false advertising and unjust enrichment."

Anyway, on December 20th, the lawsuit was dismissed by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. Maybe she can try again in 2017, 6 years after Square Enix starts charging Final Fantasy XIV players monthly fees.
