3DS messaging app Swapnote now available everywhere

As promised by the end of the month, Nintendo's 3DS messaging app, called Swapnote, is now available.

It was strangely missing from the Nintendo Download press release sent out this morning, but today's eShop update in all regions brings Swapnote for the low, low price of free. Swapnote is not quite as practical as sending a message from a PS3 or Xbox 360. It doesn't work while in game and isn't instantaneous. (Messages are sent and received over SpotPass.) It does, however, let you attach photos and sounds, and hand write messages (and draw pictures) in 3D to send to friends. There's also an option to send out notes to passers by via StreetPass.

So, this is Nintendo's Christmas gift to you this year. Dozens of eye-popping 3D junk shots from all of your friends.

Rhody likes to press the keys on his keyboard. Sometimes the resulting letters form strings of words that kind of make sense when you think about them for a moment. Most times they're just random gibberish that should be ignored. Ball-peen wobble glurk.

If you have an active friend list, Swapnote is pretty much the best thing to happen to the eShop since Pushmo.

For some reason it's called Letterbox in the EU. And Pushmo is "Pullblox"

NOE has this weird habit of changing the English names of everything for no real reason.
