Revolution Software and Ravenscourt announced today that Broken Sword 5: The Serpent's Curse, the fifth installment in the beloved graphic adventure series, is now available to download from the Nintendo eShop. It carries an MSRP of $29.99 USD, and features new content.

The Serpent's Curse begins with a robbery and murder at a gallery. George Stobbart, an "intrepid" lawyer, and Nico Collard, a "sassy" journalist, team to track down deviant sorts involved in a conspiracy that stretches back in time thousands of years. Armed with a bevvy of witty quips, can the unlikely pair save mankind from absolute disaster?

The game offers 1080p visuals, ensuring it looks good whether you're playing in handheld mode--as so many seem to do these days--or enjoying the experience on the television like an awesome person. Though the title has appeared on numerous platforms in recent years, the Switch edition offers behind-the-scenes movies created just for this newest release. They unlock as you play, and reveal the design process via interviews with various members of the team that made the game.

"The Nintendo Switch is an ideal console for both portable and home gaming, and we are hugely excited to be bringing Broken Sword 5: The Serpent's Curse to the platform," said the hugely excited Charles Cecil, founder and CEO at Revolution Software. "When we decided to work on a Nintendo Switch version, key to our plans was making the absolute most out of the innovative hardware, and that means exclusive content and controls. This is the ultimate version."

Originally released on PC in 2013 as Broken Sword 5: The Serpents' Curse - Part I, the game has yet to produce the sequel that title implies will come. Someone should probably get on that. Maybe the team can get to work on the follow-up next, by George (Stobbart)!

[Edit: EmP, who had the good taste to read this article, tells me "The Serpents' Curse - Part I" eventually became just "The Serpent's Curse" and is very much a complete game rather than the first of two parts, but I'm leaving those last lines in there because my "by George" joke is literally the greatest joke ever included in a game-related news article since the dawn of time.]
