MagiCat, an indie platformer from one-man studio Kucing Rembes, arrived today on the Nintendo eShop. The game is published by Toge Productions, and carries an MSRP of $4.99 USD or equivalent.

Based in Surabaya, Indonesia, Kucing Rembes keeps things small by producing games with just the one employee. The developer "aims to create the best platforming experience for PC users," and handling everything from art to sound and coding in-house is part of the recipe.

In MagiCat, players find a world inspired by the 16-bit platformers of old. Players must retrieve a stolen magical artifact while working their way through over 63 levels (so... 64?) spread across 7 worlds. New mechanics are introduced every few levels to keep things lively, and there are puzzles as well.

"Translated into English, Kucing Rembes literally means 'a seeping cat,' which inspired the whole MagiCat concept," said Toge Productions Founder and CEO, Kris Antoni. "With glowing Steam reviews, we feel the Switch users will find it as engaging if not more, as it lends itself perfectly for the platform."

I think the meaning might actually be "a sleeping cat," because "a seeping cat" doesn't make much sense to me. But neither possibility really seems to jive with the old school style of play demonstrated in the video (embedded above), so it's hard to say. What I do know is that MagiCat looks potentially interesting, and the relatively low MSRP for what sounds like a fair bit of content is rather appealing. Are you similarly tempted?
