That's two games covering the events depicted in eight movies for one MSRP, in case you care about the numbers.

LEGO Harry Potter Collection, a compilation of LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 and LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7, has been officially revealed for Nintendo Switch and Xbox One. The games have been remastered for the newer consoles.

Originally released in 2010 and 2011 on a wide variety of platforms that included everything from the DS to the PlayStation 3 to iOS and Android devices, the two games included in the collection were developed by TT Games and allow players to explore the haunted but magical halls of Hogwarts and surrounding environs. There's a lot of low-risk puzzle solving and adventure, suitable for a younger audience but also engaging for those of us who are headed toward gray hair.

"The LEGO Harry Potter: Collection for Nintendo Switch and Xbox One grants access for a new generation of players to experience Harry Potter's magical journey through the imaginative lens of LEGO," said Jonathan Smith, Head of Production and Strategic Director, TT Games. "Fans of all ages can embark on a light-hearted and interactive journey inspired by beloved characters and iconic locations from the Harry Potter films."

Also included in the package are two DLC packs that were previously available separately. They include a character pack with characters such as Godric Gryffindor, Peeves, Rowena Ravenclaw and various other characters already included in the game... but in new attire drawn from pivotal scenes in the films. That's on top of the many, many characters that were already included in even the sprawling base games.

LEGO Harry Potter Collection will arrive on the new platforms on October 30, 2018. A PlayStation 4 edition is already available and was released in 2016. So if you already own that system and want to get started adventuring a little early and probably less expensively... lucky you!
