Deep Silver and YS Net Inc. revealed today at Gamescom the official release date for Shenmue III. The game is coming to PlayStation 4 and PC on August 27, 2019.
The release date means fans and/or Kickstarter backers (I'm one of them) will have to wait just over a year to finally get our hands on the third installment in one of the medium's most beloved franchises. The series previously left things at a cliffhanger when Shenmue II ended on Dreamcast, all the way back in 2001.
In Shenmue III, players once again assume the role of Ryo Hazuki, a teenage martial artist who is looking for answers after his father's murder. The search for resolution will lead Ryo through an open world, where he will examine objects and gather information from the various people he meets along his journey.
