Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time uses Vita as a treasure hunting peripheral
That Vita is one expensive peripheral.
For those equipped with the hardware, treasure hunting in Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time will be a lot more hands-on, thanks to the ability to use a PS Vita as an x-ray treasure hunting device in Sanzaru Games' upcoming platformer.
Glen Egan, president of Sanzaru, demonstrates the mechanics in this YouTube video, which shows how players can hold up their Vitas to their television screens to scan environments during Thieves in Time gameplay to find hidden items, emulating something you might see on Nintendo's new console, the Wii U.
It seems pretty cool, though I couldn't imagine myself connecting my Vita to my PS3 during a play session just to search for treasure.
Thieves in Time launches Feb. 5 and is one of Sony's titles that will be part of its Cross Buy promotion, which includes free Vita versions of specific PS3 titles (like the soon-to-be-launched PlayStation All Stars.
