Disgaea Dimension 2 gets a trailer and first screens
Finally, a direct sequel to Hour of Darkness, dood!
For the uninitiated, the world of Disgaea might prove a little confusing. There have been three numbered sequels to the original Disgaea: Hour of Darkness, following different timelines and characters. There have also been a number of spin-offs, including comics and anime. It’s taken nearly a decade, but Nippon Ichi is finally working on a direct sequel to the first Disgaea game, and now the first media for Disgaea Dimension 2 is emerging.
New screenshots and a debut trailer reveal that Dimension 2 takes place only a few years after the first game, and features several familiar faces, including Laharl, Etna, and Flonne. They’ll join a brand new character who looks to be of some importance, but who hasn’t yet been fully revealed. All we know is that she refers to Laharl as “big brother.” The newly released screens also show Laharl riding a dragon, suggesting Dimension 2 will feature monster mounts.

Disgaea is a tactical-RPG series which takes place in the fictional realm of the Netherworld. While players might recognise the genre staple of the isometric grid-based board, the series has often satirised RPG convention, and is known for its stratospheric level caps and hilarious dialogue. It’s fair to say that it’s not for the casual gamer.
Keep an eye out for more information on Disgaea Dimension 2 soon.
