Hakuoki action spinoff coming to PSP
Date all the samurai!
Aksys Games will be publishing Hakuoki: Warriors of the Shinsengumi for Western markets.
Warriors of the Shinsengumi is a spinoff from the previous Hakuoki: Demon of the Fleeting Blossom, a visual novel in which the player takes on the roll of a young girl, Chizuru, searching for her father in Japan's late Edo period. Along the way she romances one of six samurai who are accompanying Chizuru in her journey.
Unlike the first game, Hakuoki: Warriors of the Shinsengumi is an action game where the player controls the six samurai from Demon of the Fleeting Blossom. Two story modes will be available, one that follows the first game's plot and one set in an alternate timeline.
It's good to see some games still trickle out for the PSP. It's always been a great repository for unique (at least in the US) Japanese games like this, the Ys series and plenty of JRPGs. We've also seen plenty of interesting foreign games hitting Vita and 3DS. Anyone who says we aren't getting enough Japanese games just isn't looking in the right places.
Look for Hakuoki: Warriors of the Shinsengumi on PSP from Aksys "soon;" no release date has been specified yet.
