Rumor: Assassin's Creed 3 will have a season pass
An anonymous tipster's photo might have spilled some colonial beans.
Assassin's Creed III will have a "season pass" for downloadable content, according to an anonymous tipster who sent Kotaku a photo of a Ubisoft-penned letter congratulating GameStop for "assassinating" its pre-order goals. The letter mentions a "'season pass' concept" and asks the retailer for its "continued assistance" in letting customers know of the better deal they'd get for ordering Assassin's Creed III along with its season pass.
The season pass concept, which lets customer to pay a premium in exchange for guaranteed future access to all paid DLC, isn't a new one -- not even for Assassin's Creed titles, as the PC version of Assassin's Creed II let customers buy one.
As Kotaku points out, no mention of the type of DLC Ubisoft plans to pump out for Assassin's Creed III is mentioned (single player? multiplayer?), but the letter does note that a dedicated team is being put together to create post-launch content for the title.
Of course, no official word has come from Ubisoft just yet, but we've reached out to them anyway, in the case they'd like to make things clear. We'll let you know what we hear.
