Capcom lays off 20 from Dead Rising 2 dev
Seven percent of Capcom Vancouver was let go.
Capcom laid off 20 employees from Capcom Vancouver, the development studio behind Dead Rising 2, which was formerly known as Blue Castle Games. The company said the layoffs were the result of an "unsuitable fit" with the studio's goals.
The 20 employees let go made up seven percent of the studio's total workforce.
"Capcom Vancouver has laid off 20 staff as part of its regular periodic assessment of overall studio goals," said a spokesperson to Game Informer. "The studio is actively hiring talented staff to support its goal of delivering high quality games."
Though I feel for the 20 employees who lost their jobs, it's a slightly better to see something like this in a headline than what occurred with Prototype 2 developer Radical Games a few weeks back. At least Capcom Vancouver is still hiring, and they're still making games.
We wish the best of luck to those let go by Capcom Vancouver.
