News > Vicarious Visions goes to Activision Vicarious Visions, the developer best known for portable versions of Activision's recent blockbusters, including the DS version of Spider-Man 2 and the GBA version of Tony Hawk's Underground 2, now belongs to Activision. The 100-employee studio today became a wholly-owned subsidiary.

In recent years, mergers and outright purchases have become a popular way to consolidate power and remain competitive in an industry where even large players such as Electronic Arts and Activision can be bought by the highest bidder. Considering the fact that Activision has worked closely with Vicarious Visions for most of the past 5 years, though, at least this purchase actually makes sense.

Given the nature of the games they develop, you can likely watch this site for plenty of news related to Vicarious Visions and Activision in the months--and years--to come. Until then.
