Title: REVIEW BOX OFFICE: ''Final Fantasy II'' Breaks Records!! Posted: May 10, 2010 (10:20 PM)
In a little under two months, my review of "Final Fantasy II" has racked up 739 hits. This makes it my second most viewed review of all time, trailing my oldest submission on the site: "Shinobi." My review of the Shinobi for the PS2 was submitted way back in 2005, and it is the only review from my old body of work that I didn't purge. It has taken five years for it to achieve 1170 hits. Before the end of this year, FFII may surpass that record.
How high will FFII soar? Experts say it could surpass 2000 by year's end. Meanwhile, FFII's brother review "Final Fantasy V" is having a respectible performance of its own. It currently has 390 hits, making it my fourth most viewed submission of all time. The third on that ranking is "Shinobi Legions", with 423 hits. Submitted in the same month as FFII, FFV will clearly make its way past Legions and claim the third spot.
In other news, "Street Fighter IV" opened this weekend to 87 hits. This is standard performance for a new review of mine. Time will tell if SFIV will be another FFII sensation, or if it'll end up like "TaleSpin." Polling indicates the average perusers of SFIV fell in the 18-30 demographic, skewing mostly male.

Nintendo has announced the 3DS. It's going to be a new series of hardware, not a spin-off. It will be backwards compatible with DS and DSi games. It's going to have 3D "effects" without the use of 3D glasses.
I personally hate 3D, whether its in games or movies. I'm more interested in seeing what kind of performance the hardware is capable of. Hopefully, some developers will ignore the 3D like they ignored the touchscreen, or the player can configure the effects. 3DS will likely become the new de-facto RPG platform of the next half-decade, and if the hardware is PS2/Gamecube caliber, I hope Squaresoft chooses it for their future FF remakes. (No more ugly DS polygons!)

I swore I wouldn't play this in my next "Final Fantasy IX" playthrough, but it's sucked me back in. Can't complain, since I've earned a couple of Cotton Robes and Germinas Boats, along with a bunch of potions and curative items.
And, holy shit, you can learn "Might Guard" as soon as you recruit Quina.
