Title: The 4th Quarter
Posted: October 03, 2007 (12:56 PM)
Games that look sort of interesting and different from other competing platforms to games that scream must-buy. who has the most promising line-up? looks like there will be about 50 titles coming for 360 this holiday, 40 for PS3 and about 100 titles for Wii from IGN and GameStop's release date list.

PS3
Folklore - oct.
Eye of Judgement - oct.
Ratchet & Clank - oct.
Haze - nov.
Time Crisis 4 - nov.
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune - nov.

Wii
Victorious Boxers: Revolution - oct.
Zack & Wiki - oct.
Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn - nov.
Super Mario Galaxy - nov.
Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 - nov.
Resident Evil Umbella Chronicles - nov.
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games - nov.
Trauma Center: New Blood - nov.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl - dec.
Nights: Journey of Dreams - dec.

360
Beautiful Katamari - oct.
Ace Combat 6 - oct.
Mass Effect - nov.

then there are the multiplatform games:
Guitar Hero 3
Call of Duty 4
Army of Two
Assassins Creed
Rock Band
+ some games that were released earlier that are now coming out on the other system(VF5 - 360, Stranglehold - PS3)

the PS3 will have a little bit more exclusives than 360 but many of the more important games are multiplatform and 360 has the edge there.
the slight advantage goes to 360. Wii will have twice the library compared to the others but that doesn't neccessarily mean better. while they'll have a dozen games worth playing, the rest of their upcoming releases will be alot of crappy casual and kiddie games. Wii have alot of games exclusive to Wii but they don't have many of the games that are exclusive to PS3/360.

all in all, there are at least a dozen potentially good games on all 3 systems so i don't want to hear any bitching and griping.

We've reached the point already where there are compelling reasons to buy software for each of the three systems this holiday season, if you own them. If you don't already have the hardware, though, you're left paying $600 before you can play any game on the PS3 list, or $500 to really enjoy your first title on the Xbox 360 list, or $300 for the first Wii title (if you can even find the system in stores). I'm just thankful I got all three systems before things got so tight for me financially. It's a huge relief to know that I can play pretty much any game I want now without investing in new hardware (except for PC games, of course).

It sounds like there is going to be a $399 PS3 by Christmas. That could be interesting.
