Title: DJ Max IS Back!
Posted: August 26, 2008 (08:52 PM)

so DJ Max is finally hitting the arcade scene after invading PCs and PSPs in the form of Technika. it's basically plays like Ouendan(Elite Beat Agents) except it has a line sweeper going across the screen like Lumines. it's an interesting gameplay departure for the series. i'm all for changing up the experience a little bit and i'm sure this new style will make the series more accessible for new audiences. i still hope they will release a traditional DJ Max game though. did i mention the arcade cabinet is sexy as in dual plasma widescreen with one being touch-sensitive framed with light-changing color panels?

in other news, DJ Max is finally getting an american localisation for the PSP called DJ Max Fever which will combine features and tracklists from DJ Max Portable 1 & 2, a few new exclusive game modes and possibly some new songs. i hope they will include some songs from the PC online version. this is good news for me as i don't own Portable 2 so i should have something to look forward to. yay finally it's coming to America!

oh here's the teaser from the official site for all DJ Max related goodness including snippets of background videos and music from Technika(the animations are far more detailed than previous games..)

i don't know why but after playing Metal Gear Solid 4, i just haven't really been bothered to play any video games lately. most of the games i've played have left me feeling underwhelmed. the latest victim? Soul Calibur 4. i gave in and bought it after not buying any games for two months. it has some nice enhancements but the single player story mode was incredibly short and easy. i think i beat it within 10 minutes. at least virtua fighter 5 gave me a decent challenge and with all the continues it took me almost an hour to finish.

Title: Gaming 2008 The Story So Far
Posted: July 13, 2008 (12:31 AM)
what do you think about all the games released so far? has 2008 lived up to your expectations? in some ways i am a bit disappointed with all the games that were hyped this year. like, super smash bros. brawl's online mode to MGS4's plot, etc. i think they could have handled certain aspects better.

i think the problem with this current console generation is it's reliance on current franchises and lack of new IP's to compensate for the lack of originality. it's just more of the same, with more polish, more immersion, but the end result leaves you unsatisfied and wanting more. even newly hyped IP's like Assassin's Creed or ahem..Haze could not step it up. the PS2 had it's share of sequels but also brought alot of new style of games the PS1 wasn't capable of. The PS2 and Dreamcast were definitely the pinnacle of 3d gaming.

Title: gaming in '08 starts off with a bang.
Posted: April 20, 2008 (07:42 PM)
the first quarter of gaming is already over and it has been great so far! the only tinge of disappointment has been Super Smash Bros. Brawl's Online. all the platforms this time have better support and better games especially for the PS3 and Wii compared to the 1st quarter of last year.

Action game fans have nothing to complain about with games like No More Heroes, Devil May Cry 4, God of War:Chains of Olympus, Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword, etc.

Some decent fighting games with Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Arcana Heart

Quirky niche games like Patapon.

Title: mindless drivel

so i looked at each game in my library for the PS3 and Wii. then i guessed how many hours i spent on each game and checked the time log on my wii.

well, i've racked up over 400 hours of Wii usage and over 300 hours of PS3 usage.

out of the 400 Wii hours, 300 was spent playing Wii games, 50 on the Virtual Console and the other 50 spent on the Mii, Photo and other dumb channels and playing GameCube games.

out of the 300 PS3 hours, almost 200 was spent on PS3 games, almost 100 hours was spent playing PS2 games on the PS3, and whatever hours were left were spent on viewing video clips, web browsing, folding@home etc.

PS3 offerings are still kinda pathetic and the Wii has more good games to play right now thus i spent nearly twice the many hours playing wii games than ps3 games so the wii is still kicking ass in actual content for the system. as far as usage, the wii has a comfortable but not huge lead. with GTAIV and MGS4 coming out and some other games coming later this fall for the PS3, the PS3 will have no problem getting much more usage from me. usage sometimes doesn't necessarily equate to better.

Title: Super Smash Bros. Brawl Friend Code
Posted: March 11, 2008 (01:46 PM)
got a wii? got brawl? got smash friend code? wanna battle?

mine is: 1891-0880-8313

yeah i know..the all annoying friend codes are back but there's no denying the fun to be had playing Brawl online. the battles for the most part are nearly lag-free. there's some hiccups here and there just like any other online game and some bouts where it lags pretty badly.

multiiplayer with nameless random strangers is no different from playing against bots. it's meaningless. i could just play offline instead. they should have implemented some kind of ranking system. i don't care if my opponents are still nameless. at least put something in like a W-L record. if i go up against some guy with 300 wins and 10 losses, then i know i'm up for a big fight. this would get me motivated since i know i'm playing against a good player and that'd get me psyched up. put some identity into your online games Nintendo! the only other alternative is to play online with friends that which i have yet to try. i also found out you can customize your taunts. originally Nintendo was going to put in preselected ones. still limiting but better than nothing.

--Berias is the easiest first boss i've played against in a Devil May Cry game. the tarantula boss from the first game was a semi-bitch to beat, the cerebus boss from the 3rd game was a REAL bitch to beat, but the boss in the 4th game was a cakewalk. lack of challenge aside, DMC4 is still fun and i just met this sexy light-skinned black chick from stage 3. she must be a new character?

--Super Smash Bros. Brawl on Sunday!!! i need friend codes!

--Flonne: So this is the Stellar Graveyard...
Flonne: How beautiful... But, it looks like the stars are crying...
Etna: Flonne, you're so romantic. I just wanna choke you to death!
Flonne: E, Etna...! You ARE choking me...! I, I, I can't breathe...
Laharl: Hey, enough of that.
Etna: Yeah, yeah.
...Saved by the bell, Flonne<3
Flonne: *gasp* I hope she was just joking...
Flonne: I almost became one with the stars.

Title: just got Devil May Cry 4
Posted: February 11, 2008 (11:52 PM)
the intro to devil may cry 3 was fun to watch
the intro to devil may cry 4 was nice to watch.
which is better?

it was a little confusing in the beginning to distinguish who is Nero and Dante during their little fight(minus the close-ups) that is until...Nero starts kicking Dante's ass with his Devilbringer. Dante looks bored and so is the voice actor who does Dante. doesn't sound quite like the Dante from the 1st game or the brash cocky Dante from the 3rd game(then again he is not young in #4 so it wouldn't fit). a little underwhelmed with Dante that is all, but i like Nero if only because he is just DMC3 Dante In Disguise with a cool ass devil arm.
