It's not all an elaborate ruse, some misguided attempt to establish for myself an online persona of dubious quality. I really am dull. If you don't find that unbearable, though, this is my blog that examines just how truly boring I can be.
Title: Expect a review soon... Posted: January 02, 2010 (12:22 PM)
So, what with it being 2010 and all, I'm anxious to get some reviews cranked out in the near future. Plus, I have a pile of games that I need to review. What does that mean? It means that youshould probably expect a review from me very soon, most probably today. The game that will receive my first review? Well, that's nothing special, not really. I plan to review Rabbids Go Home for Nintendo DS. I had asked Ubisoft for the Wii version and they sent the DS one instead, which looks to be a much different game. It's not a bad game, though, and I'm most of the way through it now. So like I said... soon, a review!
In other news, I picked up a copy of Rabbids Go Home for Wii, independently of all of this. I have a discount on games at the store where I work, plus they put it on sale for $10 off the usual price and such. So I got a pretty good deal. I don't know when I'll play and review that, but it's on my list.
Edit: And now it is live. Time to start in on another one. :-D

...and we have an early leader in the Alpha Marathon before the topic is even posted! :)
Always good to see a good start. Hopefully there'll be a bunch of Alpha Olympics ones tomorrow, to get this year started even better.

Hold up there, Schultz. I posted a C review yesterday. The Alpha Marathon is tied, thank you very much!

Not anymore. :-D

Dang it! I had vague ideas of surprising you both with 2 NES reviews tomorrow. For actual good games I never reviewed.
Looks like someone wasn't joking about starting in on another one! I thought you just meant a game, not a review.

I actually have a few games I've started playing, plus a bunch of really short games that I have been wanting to start but haven't had time to start because of the guide. You should expect to see a lot of rapid output from me early on that will likely get me up to a fair number of letters, but after that you'll see that reviews that help me progress toward good Alphabetolympics placement--as in 2009--are few and far between. I think even in my current stack, I have a few repeat letters. In fact, I know I do.

My second review of the year, for another letter, has just been submitted. So there! And I hope to have my Halo 3: ODST review done by tomorrow.

Umm...I sent in an updated (from GameFAQs) FAQ of a game? With hopefully amusing screenshots? And I found a "V" game I liked? That's a tough letter.
It's already been fun to plan things out for the AO--I know I have some duplicate letters in stuff I want to do. Still, I will probably see how long I can avoid them. That'd be something--27 different letters in 27 consecutive reviews. Doubt it'll happen.

The thing with Alphabetolympics is to have fun, however that works for you personally. It'll probably look like I'm trying to win it all this year as I cover the first few games, which is unfortunate because I don't want to scare away any genuine competition. And I don't want to give the impression here that I'm not interested in finishing this year, because I definitely am. It could be the first out of three years now where I actually do so. It's just that I have other priorities, as well. To a certain extent, a lot of it is out of my hands.

Yeah--it most definitely is. For me the minor organizational panic often leads to finding new games, and I know it's pretty clear when the next review won't be fun. Always good to have another excuse to write for a game.
And it really is fun to see someone else have a burst of writing. Often it's a push I need to take care of my own--reviewing or not. Sometimes just seeing a title tips me off to something I want to do--and it looks like you have 3 games different in very cool ways.
