Title: How I spent today...
Posted: April 27, 2009 (11:58 PM)
Today was a typically busy day off from work for me, the last of three consecutive days of freedom. How did I spend it? In the usual way, of course: working on the site!
Well, and working on content for the site. Today I wrote a review for I'm Gonna Serve You -Voice Plus!- (PC), but first I had to finish up playing through the last few scenarios, which took some time. Read my review to see what I thought in the end.
I also posted several news articles. Typically, I'll post press releases and assets which takes anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes per story, but I also "wrote" a few reports based on information PR people provided, which took a little bit longer to get things just right. It wasn't a particularly fascinating news day, but still there were some interesting releases and announcements (mostly in the downloads sector).
I also went through and added quite a few game listings, both for those articles and because some had been piling up in the "Game Requests" thread. That thread typically should be checked a few times a week by one staff member or another, but it looks like that hadn't really happened for a bit. So we're caught up now and I do apologize.
I still have quite a few games that I'll be playing through and reviewing in the weeks ahead, ensuring a steady stream of reviews from me and not necessarily a lot of time spent on administrative stuff, but I am continuing work toward being able to take care of more of that stuff in a more timely fashion as I scale back my own personal reviewing efforts. That should be happening soon.
Anyway, now you're updated. Next, I will be getting back to a PC game that I'm playing through. I am nearly to a point where I can review it, then it'll be back to Dragon Quest V on the DS. Most of my coming reviews--perhaps even all of them--will be for that system, so watch for the site's DS coverage to receive a serious bump in the weeks ahead.
What did you do with your day?

I pulled an all-nighter last night preparing for a debate in one of my classes, and then my allergies got in the way of me performing well in said debate. Heavy coffee consumption and four more hours of classes followed, then I slept, then I watched 24, then I went out and ate two slices of pizza, and then I sat down at my computer, and now here I am.

I should have mentioned that I stayed up until 4AM this morning playing the game that I'll be playing again here momentarily, so after getting up at 9 to take my wife to work, I came back home and went back to sleep for a few hours. That's probably why I didn't get more done...

What did I do? lol Read my blog. Though I will specify for today that tonight will be another all-nighter because I didn't get enough done... thanks to the amount of pain I was in during the second half of the day, which was soon remedied by IbuProfein, but God damn, I hate having to take painkillers for something I don't usually need them for... I also can't sleep for some reason (well, I probably could right now if I wanted, but don't feel as tired as I usually do this time of night anyway), but I'll take that as a blessing for now since I really didn't get anything done with my paper past what I'd already done when I made that post, and this Spanish plcement exam is taking forever. It's like harder than what the final will be tomorrow.
Good for you, though. I know you and EmP work the hardest around here. Both of you need a break.

My day was unremarkable. I went to work, I worked, but didn't get as much done as I'd like. HGWars is a minor distraction at work (got to keep doing those jobs every X minutes, after all), but nothing that really disrupts my work cycle. But I just couldn't get going and spent significant chunks of time on other sites, which in turn made me feel guilty, etc. Overall not a good day and it was topped off by a nasty headache during the evening.
Here's hoping Tuesday brings more fulfillment.

I could upstage you all with talks of hospital trips and broken X-ray machines and failed deliveries of games to freelancers that showed back up at my house, forcing me to spend the entire evening playing a game to rush out a review I'd promised to someone else (sorry if you read this, Lewis!) and databasing and PRing and unthanked freelance editing and freeing cats from house rooftops in the rain and broken drum kits and dodgy welding irons and bad moods. But the run-on sentence would be huge, and I'd look whiney.

I spent the night reading your review. Also watched Last Tango in Paris and read some of Will Stohr vs The Supernatual.

Today I did nude modeling. That's my "other" job.
