It's not all an elaborate ruse, some misguided attempt to establish for myself an online persona of dubious quality. I really am dull. If you don't find that unbearable, though, this is my blog that examines just how truly boring I can be.
Title: Best Buy Posted: December 28, 2005 (12:15 PM)
Now that it won't do any good, I find that Best Buy has apparently changed its mind.
When I went to pick up my Xbox 360, I couldn't afford an Xbox 360 premium system because I only had $500 set aside. However, they were kindly offering Best Buy credit cards on the spot. So I applied for one. The kind lady sadly informed me that I was turned down.
Today, I got my first statement in the mail. How I got it is a mystery, since it was addressed to the wrong apartment number. The mail carrier must've just noticed the name and put two and two together. Anyway, I have a balance of $69.00 for the year's finance fee, and a minimum payment of $15.
Just in case you wondered, I haven't yet received the card.
I now have a Best Buy card (and I've updated the address, so a new one will be coming with a new card number and my proper address). That's the end result. I'm sure it will be useful at some point, but I for now just plan to pay down the introductory fee and save it for an emergency. Well, that and an Xbox 360 hard drive. I saw some sitting on the shelf at Best Buy. At least I can make things right that way. Sort of.

God, just cancel it now, now that you have the chance. Why pay the $67 yearly fee? You have no credit history on the card yet, so it won't hurt you credit score if you cancel it. Well, what is the credit limit on the card - it help your FICO score if you keep it open, but if you have other credit cards, there really is no point. I don't mind giving advice on credit cards and the like, because those credit card companies are bastards and they flaunt it.

Well, I do always shop at Best Buy. I can just buy stuff with credit instead of cash, then immediately use said cash to pay off the credit and improve my rating. I've been bad with cards in the past, but I've learned my lesson now and this will be a good way to apply it.

Oh, ok. Good ahead, then. What do you get for having their retail card?
