How much does a blog cost?

Every account includes access to a single blog. And since accounts are free, you can create as many blogs as you like, provided you follow our guidelines.

What sort of content can I post on my blog?

You can post a wide variety of content. Keep in mind that unless you indicate that you would prefer otherwise, content that you post to your blog may be promoted throughout the site, so it makes sense to post content that is likely to appeal to people who like video games. You can talk about upcoming games you'd like to play, share some news you saw at HonestGamers or elsewhere, discuss recent gaming accomplishments, or debate what a game's ending might have meant (don't forget the spoiler tags, though). Additionally, gamers are often interested in the latest movies, and some might like comics or anime or music. There are all sorts of possibilities!

What content is prohibited on my blog?

In general, we ask that you avoid any content that:

• Advocates illegal activity.
  
• Displays or links to material that in general would be considered inappropriate for minors.
  
• Harasses or threatens other users on the basis of race, sexual orientation, religion or any other distinguishing features protected by law.
  
• Works around the site's design to serve material to users, particularly content that may prove damaging to their computers or software.
  
• Consists mostly or entirely of spam, including posts with frequent links to merchants and alternative forums and services in an attempt to improve SEO.

How often should I post to my blog?

You can post to your blog as often as you like, within reason. As long as you're contributing unique content, it's fine. Most people probably don't have anything to talk about that requires more than a couple of posts per day, and a lot of us don't post more than once every few weeks. Go with what feels natural, and pay attention to how your desired audience responds. If people regularly engage with the stuff you're posting, maybe find reasons to post even more often. If you're not getting the responses or feedback you expected, maybe post on other topics (or less frequently).

How do I submit a post?

Make sure that you are signed into your HonestGamers account. From any page on the main site, click "Blogs" in the top bar, which will bring you to your blog. In the top bar on that page, you will find a "Submit" link that lets you submit content to your blog. You'll be able to fill out a form and then preview the post, before finalizing it so that it goes live on the site.

How do I change my blog's appearance?

Make sure that you are signed into your HonestGamers account. From any page on the main site, click "Blogs" in the top bar, which will bring you to your blog. In the top bar on that page, you will find a "Settings" link that lets you change various settings. Here, you can change the overall color scheme, change your blog's banner, update the avatar that accompanies your posts, and even supply a background image to add extra personality to your blog's overall appearance.
