Mega Man X2 is a largely non-linear platformer. After the first stage, you're given the option to play the eight stages that follow in whatever order you think is best. Each of these stages ends with a boss who will reward you with a new weapon that will do extra damage to one other boss. Sometimes a boss' weakness is obvious (like a moth being weak to flames), and sometimes it's less so (like a sponge being weak to a sonic shockwave). This guide is designed to have you fight as many bosses as possible using the weapon they're weak against, as well as minimizing backtracking for hidden upgrades, but it's certainly not the only way to do things. This guide will provide two different strategies for each boss, one assuming you can exploit its weakness and one assuming you can't. Doing things "wrong" won't lead to any negative consequences later, so just have fun.
