Starting from here, you can go wherever you want. You can press Select to enter Auto's shop, but you won't be able to afford anything yet because the intro stage doesn't have any bolts for you to collect and spend. Unless you feel like you really need an E-Tank, it's best to wait until you find the Hyperbolt later on to reduce his fees, anyway. Feel free to pick whatever stage you want to play next, but we're going to go to Burst Man's stage first. He's on the bottom of the stage select screen.

Head right past the Bunby tank (destroy it if you want) and you'll come across a new type of obstacle.

Don't touch the spikes. When you touch the flat side of these Count Bombs, the number will begin counting down. When it reaches 0, it will explode and damage you if you're too close. These bombs are used in various ways throughout the stage, as platforms or as barriers. Jump on this one and then immediately jump to the right. Stay and watch it explode, so you'll have an idea of the timing.

Head immediately right for two more bombs. You'll need to explode one of these bombs before proceeding, so hop onto the top one and then either hop off of it or time your jump so that you're in the air when it explodes. This will clear a path for you. Destroy the Bunby Tank and proceed.

The triggers won't always be on the tops of the bombs, as you see here. Hop up on top of the second bomb, then touch the trigger of the top bomb. Stand back out of the way until it explodes, then drop down to the safe spot to the right of the spikes. Hop down the hole to continue.

You can get this 1up if you place a Rush Coil on the very left edge of the middle platform. You'll need to jump right from the right edge of the 1up platform to reach the middle again. Whether you go for it is up to you, because there's a more important item to the right. Dropping left or right will continue to the level, but let's head right, even though it's a bit trickier. When the bomb reaches 0, jump to avoid the explosion. Do the same for the next bomb.

This E-Tank is your goal. Pick it up and explode the bomb to the left. E-Tanks completely refill your health whenever you want them to. Save them for when you're in a tight spot. This floating turret enemy is a Tropropellan. It's less dangerous than it looks. It can shoot bullets from its three cannons or drop bombs on you if you're below it, but it's very easy to defeat. The Spiral Gabyoall on the floor below can't be defeated without the Danger Wrap weapon you'll earn in this stage. It moves all the one to one side, then all the way to the other side. It will speed up if it senses that Mega Man is on the same level as it is. Ignore it for now, destroying either of the bombs to continue onward.

You jump higher under water. Destroy the mines before getting close, and the fish enemies as well. If you can hop out of the water here (either on your own or with Rush), you can get the 1up. Either way, continue right. If you got the 1up, you'll have to destroy an easy bomb before dropping down and continuing.

Hold right as you drop to get this health pickup if you need it. Otherwise, head left and down.

These Metalls are vulnerable as they swim. Be careful of the spikes on the ceiling. Remember that you jump higher underwater. This is especially important to keep in mind in the narrow area before the door.

Miniboss time. This is Kanigance. He's weak to the Junk Shield weapon, but we don't have that yet. He can shoot forward or diagonally. He can also shoot bubbles, which you can destroy by shooting them yourself. When they hit a surface, they will pop into smaller bubbles, which will drop down to the floor. Avoid those. Unleash the charged shot you probably have stored and rapidly shoot him with regular shots. When he shoots at you, jump. He'll aim at you in the air, too, so drop. It's good to keep your distance. Of course, watch out for the spikes on the ceiling. After he takes enough damage, he'll rise up a bit and propel himself at you. He can't be damaged while he does this. Either jump over him or slide under him. (It doesn't look like sliding will work, but it will.) He'll hop back to the right side of the room, so slide left under him, then turn and start shooting again. He'll go down soon enough.

You'll start floating now, for some reason. There are spikes on the right, so hold left. Avoid the mines. Don't shoot them, because they'll just explode and damage you. Grab the weapon energy on the right if you need it, which you don't, if you're following this guide. Once you reach the top, the water will start rising and lowering. Hopping into the water will cause you to sink a bit before you rise again, which can send you into the spikes if you're not careful. Make your way to the right. Hop up to the ladder.

Here's an old standby. These blocks disappear and reappear, and can only be stood on when they appear. Watch them for a moment to figure out their pattern and timing. Use the block you can reach to climb up. Stand on the block to the left of the centre, and when the block on the right appears, jump over to the far left so the block will appear directly under you, then hop to the ladder to climb up.

This part's tricky. The blocks will appear one after the other for you to hop across the spikes. The important part is to wait a moment before jumping from the second block, as the fourth block will appear directly over the third block. Time your jump so that the second block disappears after you jump, and the fourth block appears before you land. Yeah. Make it over the spikes and down the hole.

These are Kerones. They hop. Shoot them with a charged shot or a couple of small shots to destroy them. Continue left and down.

More water here. Use common sense and destroy the enemies as you approach them. This R is an important collectable, and it's easy to get here. Stand on the safe spot below and to the right of it, then wait for the water to rise. When it's high enough, hop out onto the platform and grab the R. Easy as pie. It's possible to make it across the next set of spikes as the water is lowering, but it's better to stand there and wait for it to be rising before heading to the right. Grab the health if you want it. Continue right, using the water to cross the spikes, until you reach the next ladder.

This is a Petaforth. It does exactly what it's doing right now, moving left and right. Destroy it and head through the door. You're about to face your first Robot Master.

Burst Man is weak to both Freeze Cracker and Scorch Wheel, neither of which you have. That's ok. The little yellow balls he drops are bombs. He drops several if you hit him with a charged shot, but it's a small price to pay to damage him so heavily with one blast. Stay away from them until they explode. Burst Man fires bubbles with bombs in them. They move slowly, so try to jump between them to put them behind you and yourself directly in front of Burst Man for a charged shot. If you touch one, you'll be trapped in the bubble with the bomb. This will slowly carry you to the ceiling, so get out of there, because the ceiling is made of spikes. You can pop the bubble if you move around frantically for a moment, mashing the dpad and shoot and jump buttons. If you have the Junk Shield, it's great for escaping bubbles. The bomb will survive the pop of the bubble, so avoid it after you're free. Burst Man will also fire a wall of yellow bubbles that you'll bounce from if you touch. The bubbles can be destroyed with your Mega Buster, but that means they absorb shots that are meant for Burst Man. Aim well. Burst Man can aim his weapon at the floor, which will cause empty bubbles to appear from sections of the floor. These will quickly rise towards the ceiling, so don't let them take you with them. When Burst Man hops forward a bit, he leaves himself open to a charged shot, so let him have it. This is a pretty simple boss, which is why we picked him first.

As a reward, you'll get Burst Man's bubble weapon: the Danger Wrap. It unleashes bombs wrapped in bubbles. The bubbles can also be used to trap other things, like enemies while they're in otherwise-invincible states.
