Kirby: Triple Deluxe Guide > Story Mode > Old Odyssey - Stage 5

As you head along the icy ledge leading right from this stage's entrance, you'll see enemies sliding around on skis in the background. Some of those will launch themselves toward the foreground, so don't feel safe ignoring them. Snowballs will do the same, and there are plenty of sliding enemies closer at hand, as well. The only other attraction is a Keychain encased in some ice blocks.

Make your way to the far right side of the area and you'll find a door that leads to the next area. Here, you can start down a hill and receive an Assist Star, and you can grab the Spear ability from a capsule that is guarded by an angry snowman. Proceed to the right from there to face a mini-boss.

Mini-Boss: Flame Galbaros

This guy moves pretty slow for the most part, though you do have to watch for him to start glowing with a fiery aura. If he does that, he may be about to charge and you should float up and out of the way. Otherwise, you can stick close to him and do the most damage, ideally with your Spear ability. It's easy to chip steadily away at his life meter in that manner, and the arc of fireballs he spews will harmlessly pass overhead. Then you can retreat to avoid a charge before moving in close to continue dealing damage until his life meter is drained.

You can inhale the enemy to gain the Fire ability if you like. Then proceed onward to find a doorway. There's a blue star to the upper right from there, or you can head lower to clear an icy passage for some nourishing food. Otherwise, go through the door.

In the next area, you'll find a high wall. There are cannons along the left side and you can jump into one, but notice also the tip of a rope protruding from the ice. You'll come back to it in a moment. First, ride the cannons up to the top and then drop down along the right side of the ledge. Drop down to the base and open a chest for the Rare Keychain: Nightmare Wizard. Then head back up and around, down to the fuse.

You're now ready to set it ablaze. That will start it burning, and you should immediately start blasting your way up along the cannons to reach one that rests on the ledge at the top. It is attached to the rope you lit on fire. If you get there first, you can wait and it will launch you to a bonus room with a Sun Stone that you can claim by melting ice. It's easiest to do so by standing on top of the ice block formation, then jumping and pressing Down and B. Once you have your prize, exit through the nearby door.

You are now in a new area and you should head quickly to the right. As you go, watch both the foreground and background. There are a few enemies here, including one that yields Fire if you chow down as it heads into the foreground. A more pressing concern (for now) is a snowball in the background. It rolls down a hill and builds mass. You want to race it to the right to grab a 1up resting on a ledge. You also want to keep going from there and race an enemy that is carrying a key. You can arrive on a ledge before him and defeat him to grab a Key he is carrying. Then you can hop to the right from there and use the Key to open a gate, granting you access to food and a treasure chest that holds a Sun Stone.

When you're ready, exit through the door on the overhead ledge and appear in another area that looks similar to the last one. As you head right here, you'll soon come across some Miracle Fruit. Proceed from there and you'll need to float through a cloud that obscures your vision (so you don't drop to a bed of spikes). If you want, you can suck away the cloud to get a clearer view. Just beyond that point rests the base of a snowman head, and a ledge to the right. Climb the ledge, then face the snowman head that rests just to your left. Suck at it enough that it falls off the ledge. Then get on its left side and suck it left so that it comes into position on the snowman base. You'll receive some stars for your trouble.

Continuing onward, you'll come to another bit of mist. It hides a cannon that launches you to an overhead ledge. Start up a hill to the left, watching for skiing enemies. You can float above them easily. At the top of the hill is another snowman head, and to the left a furnace. You want to position yourself so you can suck at the air and pull the head left, over the furnace (between its flame emissions) to reunite with a waiting snowman base. That will reward you with food. You can head left from there and clear away a cloud to see a Keychain and some spiked enemies. Grab the treasure and float between them, toward the upper left and a waiting cannon that will launch you upward to another ledge.

Here, look left and suck away the clouds to reveal another snowman head. Bring it along with you toward the right and clear more clouds to reveal an overhead switch. Pull on it to produce a bridge that you can roll the head across. Look to the right from there and you'll see another furnace block. Hop over the flames when they subside and get ready for the tricky part. You have to stand on that ledge and pull the head toward you with more Hypernova use. The snowball will drop into position directly on the furnace, so you have to drop also and suck some more to get it out of the way before more fire happens. There's not much margin for error, so act quickly. Continue bringing the snowball with you from there and you'll at last find a body to unite it with, which earns you a reward of a 1up.

Keep pressing onward and you'll find an even larger snowman head resting on a ledge. There's a body just below, but it's the wrong one. The correct one is a short distance to the right, and there's also another snowman head. Stand on the ledge positioned between the two heads. Use Hypernova to bring the head on the right back toward the body to the left, and the head to your left you should bring down to the body to the lower right. When both heads are reunited with their respective bodies, you'll receive another Sun Stone and a door will appear.

Pass through that door and then start to the right. You'll come across some Waddle Dee enemies that cower inside a straw house. Use Hypernova to suck it away and they'll run to a wood house, where you can do the same. Note that the treasure chest they leave behind here contains the stage's final Sun Stone. Then, like the Big Bad Wolf, continue right and find a third house. This one is made of stone, primarily, and it is armed with a cannon. You can use Hypernova to suck up cannon shots, then expel them when the tower changes elevation so that you are even with wooden support pillars. You have to knock out three pillars in this fashion, and the tower moves more quickly with each successive strike, but it's an easy battle. When you defeat the tower, you'll cause the goal door to appear. Enter it to exit the stage.
