Reader review by djskittles (December 29, 2006) Forget what you learned in history class: Princess Anastasia was a feisty princess that traveled the world defeating monsters, and Rasputin sold his soul to a demon in exchange for magical powers and a sweet fortress. Also, the catastrophic casualties of World War I can be blamed on a secret society that unleashed “malice” upon the world from a building at the Vatican. |

Reader review by peterl90 (June 09, 2007) The Shadow Hearts series has been gaining ground in the world of video games lately, mainly with the latest addition of Shadow Hearts: From the New World. I remember I had never even heard of Shadow Hearts a few years ago, until a friend of mine pointed me in the direction of it. I recieved Shadow Hearts: Covenant as a Christmas gift from a friend in 2004, and not knowing what to expect, I played it. Reader review by psychopenguin (December 31, 2008) I didn't know what to think of this game. A lot of people are conflicted on whether it's truly an upgrade over the original Shadow Hearts. As someone who was blown away by the quality of that game, I was curious to see if the sequel could live up to it. And boy, did it. Not only does it surpass Shadow Hearts in my eyes, it has become one of, if not the best, video games I have ever played in my entire life. From amazing graphics to a varied and rich soundtrack, I was completely blown away by eve... |

Reader review by radicaldreamer (June 24, 2009) Much like its predecessor, Shadow Hearts: Covenant thrives on difference. It is not an absolute departure, but more than most it takes several of the most taken-for-granted role-playing game conventions and turns them on their heads. These differences, while not always positive, make Shadow Hearts: Covenant a unique and refreshing entry into a genre characterized by saturation and conventionality. |

Reader review by True (April 29, 2005) Whoever said turn-based combat games are boring… well, was probably right for the most part. Shadow Hearts: Covenant, however, pummels your head and your reflexes in a manner I haven’t seen since Legend Of Dragoon. While Covenant’s judgment ring doesn’t have the same insane sense of timing as the fore-mentioned game it is still enough to make you actually sit up, focus and curse at yourself when you miss. The ring consists of yellow hit bars, small red strike bars, and a spinning clock hand that... |
