Staff review by Erin Bell (June 20, 2003) Despite the attractive environment that the game immersed me in, what dawned on me quite early on into the adventure was that Golden Sun actually seems to purposefully conspire to make the process of playing it as mundane and drawn out as possible. |

Staff review by James Gordon (Date unavailable) If you're unsure of what you'd be enjoying visuals-wise when you buy Golden Sun, expect lush, detailed backgrounds with the most variant and complex color palette of any GBA game so far. Sprites are well-animated and look better than many PSX sprites. |

Reader review by jaksiel (Date unavailable) For now, Golden Sun is the best RPG you can purchase for the GBA, and the actual gameplay and battles are a blast. Unfortunately, I find the quality of the storyline and characters to be very important in an RPG, and Golden Sun simply does not come through in this area. |

Reader review by jerec (July 09, 2004) On a platform filled to the brink with sixteen-bit rehashes, it is pleasing to know that the Game Boy Advance does actually have some new games. Golden Sun has generated a bucket load of hype due to it being the first RPG to hit the GBA, but sadly, the bucket has a hole in it, as Golden Sun unfortunately falls short of being a classic in a few key areas. |

Reader review by mortis765 (Date unavailable) After playing countless great RPGs by Square, everything else looked sub par. FF8, despite it’s flaws, was still a grand game and better than most games out there. So when I heard a non Square RPG, a RPG made by the folks who brought us Mario Tennis, was a god send... I had to check it out. (Apparently Camelot has a series of RPGs, but I didn’t know...I should look into it.) |

Reader review by overdrive (October 28, 2004) Golden Sun should have been perfect. On the surface, this early Game Boy Advance role-playing game has everything a person could want. Huge dungeons with tons of brain-bending puzzles that bring back fond memories of Lufia II, vibrant towns and cities that truly seem alive and the ability to customize each of your characters how you see fit due to the innovative Djinn system. |

Reader review by psychopenguin (April 09, 2003) It seems every week a new ''greatest game of all time!'' comes along and brings along with it a ton of hype. While sometimes this amount of hype is completely warranted (Final Fantasy 7 is a pretty good example of this), most of the time, the exceedingly increasing amount of hype causes decent games to look absolutely crappy. Metal Gear Solid is a good example of this. While it is a fantastic game in its own right, it was implanted into everyone's brains for over two years that it was going to... |

Reader review by ratking (December 09, 2002) Nintendo is a dominating company, but ever sense the Super Nintendo died out, so did their success with RPG's. Then the Gameboy Advance came out, a system very similiar in power to the Super Nintendo, and it was time to bring back the RPG's. However they didn't just port old RPG's. They created new ones. Golden Sun is such an example, and was a very succesful one. It create an immense quest and an original magic system known as Psyenergy, and little creatures known as Djinn. Immense puzzles, and... |
