Contra’s weapons don’t blow their loads in retarded, premature fashion as is the case with other games in the genre. These weapons kill hard and die harder. The Laser rips through anything in its path, the Machine gun eats up alien troops like Fruit Loops, to say nothing of the Spread. The Spread? you query, clearly curious. The spread cuts swaths through hopeless, hapless oncomers.

The Nintendo Entertainment System had a lot of quality games. It also had a lot of arcade to console translations. Yup, the arcade fad did not hit when Playstation or Nintendo 64 started, no, it went all the way back to the days of the NES. Over time there have been multiple Contra titles. Contra is a sidescroller shooter in which you have an unlimited amount of regular ammo, plus powerups, in which to work your way by yourself, or with a partner, to defeat millions of foes. Contra is not an indepth game, but like many NES games it was just for fun, and it did it's purpose well.

Duck Hunt would prove itself competitive as two people would put their dignity on the line just to say they shot more ducks than the next man. An obscure baseball game entitled Dusty Diamonds would be a blast for hours on end with its simple, yet entertaining, game play.

Ah, to be back in the sweet days of Contra. Back in the 80's, when Run DMC and Aerosmith ruled the charts, when Ronald Reagen was President, when gaming was a much simpler hobby.
