And Super Metroid concludes with even greater fanfare, showcasing a wildly chaotic final boss confrontation followed by a stunning, controller-dropping, emotional twist that is simply unforgettable.

The Otogi series' simplistic brawling has always rubbed me the wrong way, for instance, yet I see the allure of exploring its gorgeous locales and purifying things with a big sword. Upon spotting a target, they swoop down, clamp down with their mighty jaws, and feast on the energy of their hapless victim. The original was a deep and expansive game, but it didn’t have the personality of Super Mario Brothers or the mega-hit stamp of other games.
