When you think of the Nintendo 64 console, what immediately pops in your head? Well, probably the first things that may come by would be the first three-dimensional Mario and Zelda games to be released, as well as the impressive first-person shooters known as Goldeneye and Perfect Dark. After endless delays, Atlus has finally brought us Enix's vast RPG epic. Does it end the RPG drought on the N64? Not exactly, but it's still a strong effort that fans will thoroughly enjoy.

I am one of the hardest reviewers on this site, and I believe a game must be superbly made to get that 90 and above plateu. And this game is not completely perfect, sure it has it's weaknesses but it is so strong in many categories that it is or close to my personal favorite game. Ogre Battle 64 is one of the few reasons to buy a Nintendo 64. It's that good. If the system had more games like this, it might not have died a premature death against the Playstation.

In a trend that surrenders ground to only one exception, I simply don’t stick with Strategy-RPGs. I’ll play through a game, whether it be Final Fantasy Tactics, any of the better members of the Fire Emblem or Shining Force series, or lesser known SNES titles such as Front Mission, Bahamut Lagoon, or FEDA: Emblem of Justice, and then I’ll set it aside.
