At times you may have to transform into a Goron to roll over that narrow hill, engage the Deku scrub's helicopter technique to cross a canyon, or use the boomerang fin trait of the Zora to hit that far off switch. The classic puzzles that have become a staple in the Zelda genre are all here and the fluctuating timing of them in each dungeon bring together a feeling of balance.

Overall, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask is an improvement of its predecessor. However, it doesn't seem to capture the same epic feel as The Ocarina of Time, and, in the end, the first Nintendo 64 Zelda game will be the one you'll always remember.

MM (the Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask) is perhaps the single most unique Zelda game. It did something that only one of the others did; it broke away from the classic Zelda story line. The game seems to focus a lot on Link’s character. Tatl (the fairy) in particular does an excellent job commentating, and was much more interesting than Navi. The notebook system also lets us see the more human (or Hylian, as the case may be) side of Link.

Majora's Mask is a difficult game to review. The first time I played it, I hated it with a passion. However, I recently decided to give it another chance and I've now changed my view on the game. I've come to the conclusion that there are two things that anyone should know before plunging into this second N64 Zelda installment:

A sequel to one of the greatest games ever, using that same control system which made it work so well. This game should be great, or even better seeing they know what to fix from the first Zelda (even though that wasn't much). Problem is Majora's Mask is not even close to as good as Ocarina of Time, and is not near as fun to complete. I really don't know what went wrong, maybe it was the strange storyline, the decrease in good music, or the gameplay that just didn't have the same edge. Zelda: Ma...
